Job Description


We are looking for a highly experienced Product Designer to continue growing our Design team and help shape the future of the Ark. You'll lead end-to-end product design initiatives within our defense-focused SaaS platform, balancing user needs with technical constraints and business objectives.


We're seeking a strategic problem solver who can transform complex requirements into elegant user experiences. You'll own the full design process - from initial concept through delivery - while working closely with engineering teams. The ideal candidate thrives on tackling ambiguous challenges and can effectively lead stakeholder collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.


Our product team is a collaborative group of product designers, implementation specialists, product managers, and engineers. We operate within integrated project teams, each of which focuses on key user workflows and needs that we have identified in the defense space. Depending on your background, you will join a project team and take charge of the tasks for that track.


This is an in-person position, working in our Pittsburgh, PA office.


Travel

In this role, you will be expected to travel up to 25% of the time.


Scope of Responsibilities
  • Lead End-to-End Design Initiatives: Drive discovery and definition of new features through user research and stakeholder collaboration. Create and validate solutions through prototypes, user flows, and iterative feedback. Partner with engineering teams to ensure high-quality implementation.
  • Champion Product and Design Excellence: Guide product decisions through design thinking and user advocacy. Present work and gather feedback from stakeholders at all levels. Build deep understanding of our platform's capabilities and user needs. Mentor other designers and elevate team practices.
  • Scale Design Impact Across the Platform: Design complex interfaces that balance power and usability. Create clear specifications and documentation for engineering handoff. Develop and maintain reusable components and patterns. Ensure design solutions scale across the platform.


Qualifications
  •  U.S. Citizenship is required.

Required Skills:
Must Have:
  • 3-5+ years experience designing complex enterprise software products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead features from discovery through delivery.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing measurable business impact through design.
  • Deep understanding of system design and component architecture.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers in agile environments.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, etc.).
  • Experience with design systems and pattern libraries.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of data visualization and complex UI patterns.

Background:
  • Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, or regulated industries.
  • Relevant bachelors degree in HCD, HCI, Design, or related field.
  • Track record of shipping features in collaborative environments.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or government software.
  • Advanced degree in design-related fields with focus on complex systems.
  • Understanding of federal compliance requirements and security protocols.
