Associate Packaging Engineer

Do you want to shape the future of Sustainable CPG? We’re seeking a dynamic Associate Packaging Engineer to join our Owned Brands team. Grove’s Owned Brands portfolio is the driving force behind the company’s exponential growth. We create innovative, consumer-centric, sustainable Home and Personal Care brands & products that set the standard in terms of efficacy, sustainability, and design. 


As an Associate Packaging Engineer, you will be a natural collaborator with foundational technical skills and packaging component knowledge and experience. You’ll be deeply passionate about sustainability and eager to expand your knowledge of circular packaging solutions. You will manage multiple development projects, prioritize tasks based on timelines, and work effectively within a cross-functional team that includes Brand, R&D, Creative, Sourcing, Quality, and external suppliers. You will be based in the Bay Area and  able to travel into our headquarters office to conduct testing inside our lab and collaborate with the R&D team at least three days per week.


YOUR IMPACT
  • Oversee package testing in our in-house lab for all projects, including those led by both yourself and other members of the Packaging team
  • Own and manage multiple packaging development projects with limited supervision
  • Lead the design and delivery of primary and secondary packaging for innovation, renovation, sustainability, and cost-saving initiatives
  • Partner with Brand and Product Teams to develop new product lines and modify existing ones, offering innovative suggestions for both future and current product lines
  • Develop package specifications for new products and create documentation required for product qualification
  • Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers and customers for the advancement of new packaging initiatives
  • Reports to Senior Packaging Manager


ABOUT YOU
  • B.S. Degree Packaging Science, Materials Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 0-2 years of experience in package development, ideally within a consumer packaged goods company and/or packaging testing lab
  • A strong understanding of the package development process and engineering principles
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • An understanding of project management principles to prioritize and execute project activities, ensuring on-time packaging commitments
  • Must be able to communicate issues effectively to technical and non-technical personnel (Brand, Creative, Manufacturing)
  • Experience applying scientific principles to solve technical challenges
  • Ability to work independently and navigate an ambiguous environment
