About the Role

Harman’s Government Affairs team is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable geopolitical expert to elevate Harman’s operational and strategic risk management and resiliency activities. You are accountable for the identification, monitoring, reporting, management, and integration of critical geopolitical risk intelligence across various Harman teams and platforms. You will leverage a deep understanding of geopolitics along with internal and external intelligence sources to advise business leaders, provide critical reporting and analysis, and improve processes and controls that enable Harman to proactively address geopolitical risks and opportunities.


What You Will Do

  • Serve as Harman Government Affairs team’s representative and subject matter expert on geopolitical risk and opportunity intelligence.
  • Implement and manage Harman’s geopolitical intelligence and risk management framework aligned to enterprise level approach.
  • Monitor and track topics, trends and geographies driving Harman’s geopolitical risk and opportunity landscape.
  • Prepare and present intelligence products for various audiences across Harman’s global functions and Divisions to increase organizational awareness and support critical decision making.
  • Support Harman’s Geopolitical Risk Council and collaborate closely with other internal teams to drive effective and efficient end-to-end geopolitical risk and opportunity management.
  • Establish and maintain critical relationships with key external partners across public and private sector.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree and relevant academic qualification in a subject which demonstrates interest in global affairs, regional or country-level politics, regulatory, security and operating issues
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible industry experience in the analysis and management of international geopolitical and security issues
  • Strong applied knowledge of risk management and analysis methodologies and techniques including developing and advising on discrete and broad mitigation strategies
  • Experience developing courses of action and advising executive level leaders and non-experts on geopolitical and security risk issues.
  • Experience of monitoring and analyzing issues relating to geopolitics and global security issues, including regulatory risk, at country, regional or global level
  • Awareness of and interest in geopolitical issues impacting business
  • Excellent presentation skills, verbally and in written form (to include incorporating data and graphics into output on a routine basis)
  • Outstanding communication skills, including an ability to listen well, summarize and present complex analysis of abstract issues while ensuring key messages and takeaways are clear and concise
  • Excellent research and analytical skills and ability to formulate a clear and succinct line of analysis
  • Strong technical skills in using Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrable project management experience especially leading projects and working groups consisting of cross-functional stakeholders and leaders

What is Nice to Have

  • A mix of consultancy and in-house experience in geopolitics and/or business intelligence
  • Experience working for large, multinational, complex companies on risk management.
  • Experience working with government entities building analytical and intelligence products.
  • Experience managing external counsel, agencies and/or contractor support.
  • Automotive and/or Consumer Electronics industry experience

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel.
  • This role is eligible to work remotely full-time with occasional trips into various office locations as required (this could be on 24-hour notice)
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
