About Coda

Coda started with an observation: In a world full of applications, why do documents and spreadsheets still run everything? And why haven't they been meaningfully updated in over 50 years? Coda is a new doc that's familiar and flexible like the documents you're used to, but comes with building blocks you can combine to create docs as powerful as apps. It's a big product with an even bigger mission. And we need your help to spread the word! We're backed by some of the Valley's leading venture capitalists, and have assembled a world-class team across offices in San Francisco, Mountain View, and Seattle, and remote employees all over the US. In fact, all our jobs are open in any location across the US. Here's a quick overview of what we do.

About the Role

Coda just raised Series D of $100MM and is growing quickly over the next year. It's going to be an exciting ride and we're looking for someone who is passionate about scaling highly engaged teams, tools/systems, and our culture. You'll lead the People Operations team to be strategic, creative, data and values driven. You'll partner with our executives and People Team to ensure we implement the right steps to grow and promote our teams and culture — offering an outstanding employee experience. You will report into our Head of People.

In this role you will:

  • Be the trusted operational partner to the leadership team in implementing and streamlining best practices at scale — building the strategy for People Ops at Coda.
  • Manage our People Ops function — aligning and scaling HR processes.
  • Lead what will start as a small team, but which will grow to follow a business that prioritizes our employees' experience.
  • Oversee HRIS tooling, including determining process for rolling off a PEO and bringing everything in house.
  • Support the People Team with all other HR tools (mostly through great Coda docs!) to run everything from onboarding to performance reviews, exit interviews, compliance tracking
  • Run the full life cycle of Codans (from new hire orientation, benefits administration, leave of absence, immigration, compliance, COBRA, to unemployment) to provide a seamless and supported, experience.
  • Oversee and help take our benefits program to the next level - figuring out what's going to best support our Codans. This includes managing our benefits program including end-to-end open enrollment, benefits renewal, LOA, Covid compliance, company-specific perks, management, and benefits compliance.
  • Partner with finance on our payroll processes, when and how to move it in-house.
  • Be the expert for any questions around People Operations.
  • Manage compliance programs, including mandatory filings, policy updates, and employee compliance training in close partnership with your partners (e.g. Legal, IT, Finance).
  • Manage active immigration cases, working with partners (immigration counsel, People team (Recruiting + HRBP), employees, and hiring managers.
  • Develop a people analytics doc and provide reporting
  • Vet and maintain contractor, vendor, and broker relationships and related agreements.

You may be a great fit for this role if:

  • You have 5 or more years of relevant HR experience
  • You have experience working with HRIS systems
  • You have been a team lead or manager
