WHY WE NEED YOU
Join us as the eCommerce Technical Lead who will drive the development of Hydrow’s cutting-edge, headless eCommerce platform. As part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for the technical direction of Hydrow.com while leading development, delivering high-impact projects that enhance the purchasing experience and elevate our direct-to-consumer sales channel.

· Work with leading edge eCommerce web technologies including headless, serverless architectures to design and build beautiful, immersive, lightning-fast ecommerce experiences

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
First Thirty Days
· Acquaint yourself with Hydrow and our eCommerce systems, including architecture, processes, tools and incident response framework
· Build strong relationships with leaders and key stakeholders in the Marketing and Digital Platforms teams
· Participate in technical design and execution of site development, including hands-on development of components and site functionality
· Establish yourself as a credible thought leader in modern web technology
· Transition into our support rotation for website related incident response and escalation
First Three Months
· Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to design, prioritize, and implement best-fit solutions for Hydrow.com
· Contribute to Hydrow’s ecommerce development standards, operational processes, and collaborative feature development and delivery
· Contribute to the management of site technical metrics and monitoring such as availability, performance and technical SEO. Oversee performance metrics, and make recommendations to optimize stability, page performance, conversion and positive customer experiences
· Drive delivery of key digital initiatives, demonstrating strong architectural principles with a shared sense of ownership of the experience product backlog
· Partner with cross-functional product teams to design and launch site experiments
First Six Months
· Drive roadmap development priorities in the leadup to the holiday sales season
· Maintain and enhance resiliency and our observability stack
· Drive improvements to development processes including collaboration, quality and velocity
WHO YOU ARE
Technical Expertise
Minimum Qualifications
· Deep experience building eCommerce applications with Shopify or similar backend services in a headless environment (required)
· Professional experience building and running high-traffic, full-stack web applications (4+ years minimum)
· Professional experience with React web frameworks, such as Next.js, Remix, Vue (2+ years minimum)
· Expertise in modern frontend development practices, including crafting responsive, accessible, and visually engaging user interfaces using component-based CSS frameworks and design systems
· Expertise with analytics and tag management tools (such as GTM), data layer events, and an understanding of SEO principles
· Clear understanding and experience around applying design patterns and modeling data and content
· Familiarity with key architectural elements such as browser behavior, consuming web services, serverless functions, middleware, web-analytics and server-side JS principles
Strongly-Preferred Qualifications
· Familiarity with Contentful (or similar) headless CMS platforms and content modeling
· Practical experience designing and executing experiments and supporting techniques
· Experience designing for operations, partnering with operational staff to instrument observability best practices
· A keen focus on building for performance, optimizing for core web vitals and understanding key drivers
Passion: You love to code. You have a natural curiosity and drive to learn new tech, and are always on top of trends in frontend architecture. You have a passion for building great customer experiences, and an ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to business partners and teams.
Flexibility/Adaptability: You thrive on autonomy, tackling complex challenges, and driving solutions independently while collaborating effectively in a team.. You adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and cope effectively with complexity and change, while maintaining organization and control.
Technical Leadership and Planning: You are adept at breaking down complex technical requirements into actionable plans, estimating effort and cost, and proactively identifying risks. Your experience enables you to guide the team and stakeholders through technical tradeoffs, ensuring project goals are met efficiently and effectively.
Project Management: You have job-related experience with planning, prioritization, and keeping project goals on time and on budget while bringing others along; specifically experience working on agile cross-functional projects with a variety of stakeholders.
