JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. You will be an integral leader on our finance team and support our objectives, goals, and strategies by leading the accounting function, month-end close, audit, tax, payroll, and optimize related processes. This position will report to the VP of Finance to shape the finance function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including but not limited to financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and tax.

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP,  Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), SOC2, and other relevant regulations. 

  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring timely completion.

  • Enact plans to streamline processes, including, but not limited to, GL, financial reporting, tax compliance, and management reporting.

  • Oversee technical accounting activities, regulatory filings, and other disclosures.

  • Build the accounting function to scale with our growing business.

  • Develops long-term trusted relationships with internal business leaders and external partners, including auditors, tax consultants, and other financial advisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA required with Big 4 CPA firm experience.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.

  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is required and experience in clinical stage company strongly preferred.

  • Experience in and strong understanding of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and SOC2 compliance.

  • Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP, U.S. Tax Compliance, and management reporting and analysis.

  • Proficient in financial software tools; NetSuite/QBO, Carta/EquityEdge, Trinet/ADP, Expensify/Concur, Coupa/Procurify, Adaptive/Planful, Workiva, and MS Excel.

  • Both public and private company experience preferred.

  • Proven ability to organize efficient monthly closing processes.

  • High ethical standards and integrity in handling financial information and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision is required.
