Full time: typical hours 7:00am-4:00pm; Monday-Friday
Salary: $60-75K
Reports to: Director of Materials
Summary:
Industry leading, 40 year old Buffalo Area Manufacturing Company seeks candidates for a buyer position in our Purchasing department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Purchase items needed for production of games, spare parts, and consumables
- Review and maintain good record of purchasing files and records (purchase orders, contracts, etc.) to ensure its compliance with company policies and procedures and ensure the availability of documentation
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and improve purchasing methods/processes
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services
- Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency
- Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs
- Preparing and processing purchase orders
- Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments
- Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries
- Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relationships
- Must be organized, proactive, have attention to details, and ability to multitask
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Limited travel, locally, to vendors
Preferred Educational and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in business administration, accounting, economics or related field, preferred
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, etc.) as well as manufacturing ERP software
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Working in a manufacturing setting with machinery and equipment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. May be modified if required medically.
- Able to bend, stretch, reach, push and pull parts and products. May be modified if medically necessary.
