Senior Accountant - Technical Franchise Revenue

This position will ensure appropriate accounting, recording, and reconciliation of global franchise revenue accounting transactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:             

  • Operate under revenue recognition policies and established procedures in alignment with GAAP, including adherence to accounting standards, specifically ASC 606. Account for end-to-end global processes for revenues and deferred revenues, including elimination of intercompany transactions. Prepare and record accounting entries and reconciliations for revenue accounting transactions.
  • Provide information for the quarterly and annual revenue financial statement disclosures.
  • Responsible for financial close activities including completion of analytics and internal controls. Prepare support for audits and associated operational activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Respond to frequent ad-hoc requests for information from senior management, FP&A, Tax, IA, Legal, and other functional areas of the business.
  • Help foster an environment of continuous improvement within and among other departments concerning the accuracy of all franchise revenue transactions entered into the general ledger.
  • Liaise with the Legal, FP&A, Franchise Services and Operations teams to understand contracts and help ensure proper revenue recognition treatment. Coordinate with internal and external auditors for revenue-related inquiries, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant or candidate preferred

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 – 5 years of total experience, minimum.
  • Experience in Public Company and technical accounting experience preferred. Experience in preparing journal entries and reconciliations. 
  • Experience working as part of and contributing to a larger team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES:

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Aptitude for learning new systems
  • Ability to work independently and meet multiple, concurrent and aggressive deadlines
  • Positive attitude with the willingness to accept flexibility in assignments and the desire to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to excel
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES:  Experience with Oracle or other major ERP systems

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:  This position does not have decision making, managing or hiring authority.

DIRECT REPORTS:  This position does not have any direct reports.
