The Interior Designer position at Ware Malcomb is responsible for projects from conceptual design to design development, including creating Conceptual and Schematic Design for interior design projects and presenting design options, including determining and meeting client goals and developing client relationships. You will remain involved throughout the lifecycle of a project to provide design direction to the project team. In addition, you will be involved in submittal review, construction documentation, consultant coordination and drawing set reviews.
This position can be located in our Oak Brook, or Downtown Chicago office on a hybrid schedule.
- Meet with clients to develop ongoing relationships and determine clients’ project goals.

Follow projects from inception through construction in order to maintain design quality and intent.

Conducts programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination.

Prepares and conducts client presentations.

Responsible for selection and specification of furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering and artwork. Estimates material requirements and preliminary costs.

Solicits bids and assists Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings required.

Coordination of furniture management and design.

Supports the Construction Administration phase responding to RFI’s, CO’s, and reviews shop drawings.

Advanced knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.

Keeping the project team on schedule and on budget while providing a cohesive design.

Implements and utilizes the best practices of Ware Malcomb for all projects and processes.

Coordinates with other Ware Malcomb disciplines including architecture and branding.

Coordinate with Project Managers and direct junior team members in correctly documenting design.

May mentor and direct the work of less experienced team members and deliver team member performance evaluations.

Contributes in office activities and involved in design community organizations.

5+ years of experience in Interior Architecture & Design

Ability to create complete presentation packages

Proficiency in the basic technical skills of interior design, including: Revit, Adobe Suite, Sketchup

Knowledge of 3D modelling software such as Enscape, 3D Max and Lumion is preferred

Knowledge of Deltek Vision and Newforma preferred
