The Center for Digital Health – Data & Analytics (CDH - DA) department within the Center of Digital Health (CDH) is responsible for driving Mayo’s Data, Data Management and Data consumption vision. CDH - DA will strive to enable a data centric organization, provide supporting capabilities to meet the needs of all organizational stakeholders, and establish an environment of continuous improvement with high levels of proficiency.
Mayo Clinic is seeking curious and motivated individuals to work on important data, analytics and machine learning data products as Software Engineering - Interns within the Center for Digital Health - Data and Analytics, reporting to the Director of Data Products.
The Software Engineer Intern defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This role also researches, designs, documents, and modifies software specifications throughout the application life cycle. Works with product owners and agile development team to define development tasks and acceptance criteria. Codes for automation of business functionalities including enhancements and modification to existing applications/processes. Participates in strategic projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously. Evaluates progress and results and recommends improvement changes in procedures. Troubleshoots and maintains deployed applications. Translates functional requirements into technical specifications. Manages source control and participates in code reviews. Designs, architects, develops and tests new application features based on product owner requirements. Participates in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.

Pursuing a two or four-year degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science or related field. Attaining high academic achievement in their education pursuits. Strong leadership characteristics and be active in college activities. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment. Be adaptable and flexible. Strong communication skills.
Additional Experience and/or Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in any of the following technologies: Java, C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript, experience with SQL or no-SQL databases. Knowledge of current web technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript). Experience with Node, React and Javascript MVC frameworks (e.g., Angular JS, Backbone, etc.) a plus. Experience with RESTful APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), writing automates tests or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus. Proven ability to collaborate with others to test and resolve issues with deliverables. Ability to provide technical support to co-workers. Ability to participate in medium or large, moderately complex projects with limited direct supervision. Knowledge of data modeling concepts & relational database definitions. Ability to develop & optimize performance of web-based applications & databases. Possess effective documentation & communication skills. Agile development skills preferred.
