Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist to join our team and support our internal communications initiatives.
Position Summary
As an Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our internal communication and engagement strategies. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including senior leaders, department heads, and colleagues across the organization. Your primary goal will be to develop and deliver clear, consistent, and compelling communications that inform, engage, and inspire our colleagues.
Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement an internal communications strategy that aligns with the company's overall objectives and supports our organisational culture and values.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify communication needs, gather information, and create engaging content for various internal communication channels, such as intranet, email newsletters, digital signage, and company-wide meetings.

Manage the annual colleague engagement survey, working with the provider to identify key trends and ensuring actions plans are in place across the business.

Support in the development of the employer brand, by helping to share our good news stories externally, and working to towards external recognition and awards (including best place to work) .

Write, edit, and proofread internal communications materials, including announcements, newsletters, memos, presentations, and other relevant content, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency in messaging.

Coordinate and manage the editorial calendar for internal communications, ensuring timely delivery of key messages and initiatives.

Lead monthly engagement sessions with the colleague engagement group to ensure a regular rhythm of engagement activity across all areas of the business.

Plan company events, including offsites, Town Halls and colleague events

Support in the management of charity initiatives

Maintain and update the company intranet, ensuring content is up to date, relevant, and easily accessible to employees.

Implement feedback mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of internal communications and continuously improve communication strategies.

Assist in crisis communication efforts, including drafting communications plans and messages during challenging situations or organisational changes.

Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistency in brand voice and messaging across internal and external communications.

Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in internal communications, bringing innovative ideas and strategies to the team.
Job Requirements

Proven experience in internal communications or colleague engagement / HR role, preferably in a corporate environment.

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling communications for various audiences.

Strong understanding of communication and engagement best practices, including message development, audience segmentation, and content delivery channels.

Familiarity with intranet platforms and other internal communication tools.

Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

High level of creativity, innovation, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
