Student Assistant - Internship for the Institute for Food Farm

The Institute for Food Farm (part of IES) has two paid intern positions for the 2023 production season. These internships will be 20 hours per week and will run either during the summer (late May to late August) or the fall semester (late August through October) or both consecutively. The pay rate is $12.30 per hour.
This position has two components. The first is to assist the farm staff in the physical labor of crop production, harvesting and distribution. This includes the tasks planting, weeding, tending to crop requirements through the summer and during cooler conditions in the fall. Crop harvest, washing and packing will be the major part of the farm work. Interns will also be involved in the distribution of the Farm’s produce. These responsibilities can include assisting with our Community Supported Agriculture direct sales program, assisting in sales at farmers market and working with e-commerce sites. The second component of intern positions will be to work with the Institute for Food personnel in researching, developing, and implementing portions of our long term goals. The broad categories include fundraising, business development, community relations such as social media and blog posts, working with student tours, documenting farm activities, and organizing volunteers for the Farm. Individual interns will develop a project that address one of these topics in coordination with the faculty advisor and intern supervisor.
Ability to do physical work outside in temperatures ranging from 40-90 degrees F, carry 50 lbs. for 3-5 min. while walking. This is an undergraduate student position, no degree is required. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Entry level position - No experience required.
