Supply Chain Manager

Title: Supply Chain Manager

Job Location: Frederick MD

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for management of inventory and purchasing procedures, determining supply needs, purchase supplies and materials according to specifications and supervise receiving procedures across multiple manufacturing sites. Manage and ensure collaboration among staff focused on purchasing, materials management and configuration management.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively manage, evaluate and coach team comprised of Buyers, Engineering Production Services, Quoting Specialist and Proposal Administrator.
  • Develop team with established goals/metrics and track progress, with emphasis on professional development.
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure on-time production while minimizing on-hand inventory.
  • Continually drive for increased inventory turns.
  • Continue programs of exploration for new suppliers and processes to achieve the optimum quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
  • Provide management team with accurate and relevant data/metrics to drive continuous improvement and decision making.
  • Remain current on industry trends, notifying relevant team members of potential issues/changes.
  • Manage the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP).
  • Manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, and track quality, price and delivery metrics.
  • Modify processes and procedures for shipping, receiving, transport, and inventory control to reduce waste and increase throughput.
  • Interface with Program Managers on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
  • Ensure that company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials and department functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of directly related experience in contract manufacturing industry. Electronics manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Must have prior supervisory experience & strong people management skills.
  • Must have significant experience with inventory control, logistics, materials requirement planning, supply chains, contract negotiations, and purchasing.

 

REQUIRED/PREFERRED SKILLS

  • High level of comfort with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Extreme proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access required.
