Job Description

  1. Actively manage inspection/quality practices to eliminate escapes and minimize customer returns.
  2. Review and track all internal and customer quality concerns (NCRs).  Work with customers, engineering, operations, and vendors and other company functions to determine appropriate corrective actions and facilitate the effective closure of these actions.
  3. Supervise quality technician team.
  4. Team member included in the APQP process for new product development and launch; including, but not limited to PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, Design for Manufacturability, etc.  Interface with design and production team in coordinating release of new products.
  5. Manage various projects such as review of new equipment installations, installation support for projects, and safety upgrades; coordinate capital projects as needed.
  6. Assist in contract review and develop/maintain inspection/approval criteria, parts routing, and process sheets as needed for all phases of product realization.
  7. Report on the performance of the QMS, metrics, and all related issues during Management Reviews or as appropriate.  Recommend appropriate improvements.
  8. Maintain all Quality Assurance records.
  9. Manage the MRB process and facilitate and champion the corrective action process.
  10. Responsible for development and continuous improvement of the Company’s Quality Management System.
  11. Manage internal and supplier audits, as required by customers and internal Quality Management System.  Serve as the Management Representative for audits from outside sources.
  12. Drive cost improvement, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility, including Six Sigma, SPC, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  13. Conduct cost studies for new processes or equipment; develop improvements for current manufacturing methods & processes; conduct process optimization; determine/improve time standards; perform audits in assigned area to resolve any open issues; make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  14. Update plant layout/line drawings in 2D/3D CAD; update part/tooling drawings as needed, in support of design team.
  15. Provide or facilitate the realization of training to employees as required, including indirect mentoring of maintenance and production resources.
  16. Support and enforce all plant safety and environmental requirements and policies.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
  2. Preferred two (2) to five (5) years relevant experience in Metals or Automotive.
  3. Proficiency in ISO 9001, TS 16949, and OHSAS 18001.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, 365, SharePoint, OneNote, Lync, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  5. Proficiency in 2D or 3D CAD systems: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
  6. Independent and organized work style: ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work load, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines.
  7. Must possess good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), critical thinking, organizational, statistical, and strong computer skills.
  8. Must be able to work closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, managers, and sales to resolve quality issues.
  9. Must have ability to motivate, coach, and lead others.
  10. Pragmatic and results-oriented, analytical, with strong attention to detail.
