Position Overview
KIPP Foundation’s Data & Technology (D&T) team conducts collection, analysis, and reporting of high-quality data on KIPP schools, staff, students, and alumni. As part of KIPP Foundation’s Data & Technology Team, the Senior Manager, Regional Data Systems (K-12 Academic Data Products) will provide platform-specific support and training to KIPP regions in order to strengthen network implementation of common technology platforms that support our national K-12 academic strategies, and work to put actionable, student achievement data in the hands of KIPP Leaders and teachers.
The Senior Manager, Regional Data Systems (K-12 Academic Data Products) will report to the Director, Data & Analytics (Regional Support) and work collaboratively with teammates within D&T and across the KIPP Foundation and network.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Lead network training, direct platform support, and resource development to strengthen the fidelity of academic data product implementation at KIPP (50%)
Become an expert user in K-12 academic data products used at KIPP (e.g., Renaissance Illuminate DnA, Amplify, iReady, Clever)
Be knowledgeable about common K-12 assessment types, their purpose, and data analysis use cases and limitations at all levels of academic data and assessment strategy
Ensure network data staff receive timely training and technical support to drive best practices within a comprehensive strategy for academic data:
Product Implementation: in partnership with vendors and teammates, support systems rostering, platform management, and resolution of data quality issues
Administration: develop and share resources that support systems administration and operations
Data Access: provide guidance on how to access data and troubleshoot integration of sources within local data systems or reporting tools
Reporting Solutions: recommend the best in-platform reporting options for stakeholders, develop regional data tools that align with recommended data use protocols to enable actionable insights for teachers and leaders
Data Culture: provide training, guidance, and technical support to improve the fidelity of product use, measurement, and reporting
Develop and centralize reference materials and other resources to support ongoing regional training and professional development
Facilitate network collaboration to spur innovation, increase our collective knowledgebase, and work on solutions to shared challenges
Manage vendor partnerships to ensure academic data products and services are meeting the needs of KIPP regions and schools (25%)
Monitor the K-12 educational technology and assessment landscape within and outside of KIPP to inform regional academic data product strategy and adoption plans
Serve as the main point of contact across the KIPP network for a set of vendors supporting academic and assessment data.
Work with vendors to influence product roadmaps and escalate issues raised by regional stakeholders
Oversee negotiation, procurement and contracting for KIPP Foundation and network-wide contracts
Build relationships with vendors via in-person meetings, conferences, and school visits and provide opportunities for regional stakeholders to do the same
Support national academic data collection efforts and other projects to operationalize at scale the data and systems needs of our national academic programs and assessment strategies. (15%)
Directly manage 3rd party and vendor academic data collection and provide support for academic data collected from KIPP regions and schools
Ensure data sharing agreements, release notifications, and protocols are in place that support academic data collection from KIPP regions and schools
Work with regional contacts to triage data quality issues and implement process improvements
Support the creation of materials and webinars to train network users in high quality academic data collection and submission methods
Support day-to-day team activities, including but not limited to (10%):
Fulfilment of data requests, including grant submissions, secondary research, and ad-hoc data sharing
Documentation of projects and workflows
Quality assurance, data verification, and copy-editing activities
Planning activities, retreats, and cross-team work as needed

Experience and Qualifications
Required
5+ years of work experience in a role focused on quantitative reporting and analysis, data processing, data management, and quality assurance
5+ years of work experience as a system administrator of Renaissance (Illuminate) DnA and other commonly used educational technology products (e.g. Clever, Amplify, iReady)
Experience managing a portfolio of data analysis, systems, or management projects while working with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication with an ability to translate technical instructions into accessible formats for non-research audiences
Experience with adult learning & training
Customer service orientation
Preferred
Expertise in SQL or other programming languages/statistical software (e.g., Python, R, SAS, Stata)
K-12 teaching experience
Work Conditions
Travel requirements: Up to 15% travel requested
Full time, Exempt role
Location
It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office. This role also has the option of working from a remote office full-time. KIPP Foundation offices are in NYC and Chicago.
Compensation and Benefits
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $118,000. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:
26 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+).
