Director of LegalLocation: Miami, FL or Hybrid (with monthly travel to Miami, FL and/or Houston, TX). Out-of-state candidates will only be considered if they are licensed to practice law in Florida.About the Role:Korn Ferry is partnering with our client, a leading financial services provider, to find a dynamic and experienced Director of Legal. This is an exciting opportunity to a well-established, stable, growing company as the inhouse attorney. The Director of Legal will report to the CEO, and will play a key role in the future of the organization.Key Responsibilities:• Provide expert legal advice to the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior management on all aspects of the business• Oversee regulatory compliance, including Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) audits• Manage privacy and cybersecurity policies and practices• Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs) and partnership agreements• Handle litigation and disputes, including overseeing outside counsel in collections/ consumer bankruptcy proceedings• Lead due diligence and provide strategic legal advice on mergers, acquisitions, and financing.• Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with labor and employment laws• Continuously identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks• Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes as a member of the executive management teamQualifications:• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Florida, resides in Florida and authorized to practice law in Florida, OR willing to relocate to Florida and eligible to practice law as an Authorized inhouse Counsel• 8+ years of legal experience at law firms or in-house, with prior in-house experience required.• Substantial experience in the financial services industry, preferably consumer finance• Extensive knowledge of CFPB regulations• Experience with audits conducted by the FDIC or similar regulators• Familiarity with consumer bankruptcy proceedings (debtor side)• Experience in managing privacy and cybersecurity policies• Strong negotiation, drafting, and management skills for commercial contracts• Proven track record in handling litigation and disputes• Experience in leading due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and financing• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment• Proactive, pragmatic, and results-oriented approachCompensation:The compensation range is $200k-$350k/annually including base and bonus.
