Payroll & AP Specialist

Kyo is a leading provider of therapy for individuals with autism. We are seeking a full-time Payroll & AP Specialist to join the Finance team.

Pay Rate: $24-33/hr DOE and Location 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll accurately and efficiently, collaborating cross-departmentally as needed.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salary changes, benefit updates, garnishments, taxes, and other earnings/deductions.
  • Ensure accurate processing of payroll updates for new hires, terminations, and other earnings/deductions.
  • Prepare and maintain precise records and reports of payroll entries, posting journal entries into general ledger software.
  • Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct day-to-day financial transactions, verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
  • Understand expense accounts, cost centers, and compliance issues around accounts payable processes (1099s, W-9, uncleared checks, etc.).
  • Perform other tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Kyo company policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven successful experience in processing bi-weekly payroll for organizations with more than 500 employees.
  • Proven successful experience managing accounts payable, including company credit cards.
  • Multi-state payroll experience required.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and expense management software systems, Paylocity and Ramp experience are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including strong Excel skills and an aptitude for technology.  Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • Comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team in an agile environment with quick iterations.
  • Superb customer focus, attention to detail, and organization skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: experience working in healthcare sector.
  • Advanced technology skills - must be proficient with MacBook or equivalent, Google suite applications, Dropbox, MS Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Must have the ability to professionally handle confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service experience, written and verbal communication skills including phone and email etiquette.
  • Ability to react to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner, prioritizing and multitasking to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, judgment and follow-up skills.
  • Experience maintaining a high volume workload in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to use active listening and problem solving skills to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to make priority determinations without direct supervision. 
  • Strong internet connection and professional environment with the ability to utilize video conferencing for long periods of time with limited interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak, hear, and smell. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • The individual must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary. 
  • Generally, the incumbent must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.  
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as employee handbooks, training materials and procedure manuals.
