Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician located at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL. This fulltime represented position is responsible for supporting chemical analysis of commodities critical to ground and launch processing. Work will be performed onsite at the Kennedy Space Center.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills):

High School diploma. Two or more years of college experience preferred.

One or more years of experience in performing general laboratory analytical determinations.

Must be able to pass the following KSC-provided physicals:

Fuel Handlers

Visual: Micro-particle Counter

Respirator
-
Hazardous Waste Handler

EDUCATION: High School diploma. Two or more years of college experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: One or more years of experience in performing general laboratory analytical determinations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Calibrate equipment, make measurements using analytical instruments, calculate and record results, including critical launch support analysis.
-
Assist Chemists with analytical projects and data collection.
-
Ensure compliance to safety, environmental, quality and EPA/FL, DOH/NELAC standards, as trained and required.
-
Assist Chemists in non-routine tests and studies related to troubleshooting and/or simulation of aerospace systems and commodities.

Prepare and conduct general laboratory investigations with awareness of laboratory techniques, operations and instrumentation.

Perform calibrations, standardizations and certification of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and materials, as well as routine and essential maintenance.

Prepare analytical solutions and gas mixtures used in general laboratory analyses.

Assist Chemists in setup, modification, preparation and conducting specialized tests and projects assigned to the laboratory.

Suggest improvements and modifications to existing procedures and/or equipment and evaluating proposed or modified techniques.

Prepare reports as required and inform cognizant supervision of problem areas pertaining to laboratory operations, quality or safety.

Use computer-assisted automation and data calculation to generate analysis results.

Assist the company Point of Contact (POC) which includes RCRA compliance and maintains annual refresher training.

Issue Purchase Requests for the laboratory group.

Perform tasks as directed.
