System Administrator

System administrators (or sysadmin or systems administrator) are responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install hardware and software, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.


Responsibilities
  • Installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and upgrading software and hardware..
  • Ensuring proper functioning of the organization's network information systems.
  • Seek innovative solutions to problems and make recommendations from implementations. Identify, recommend and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Analyzing, designing, creating, documenting, and testing of computer, server and network platforms
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory
  • Maintain system security via firewalls and VPN configurations
  • Maintaining a broad knowledge of current and emerging systems technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • 4+ years experience managing Microsoft infrastructure: Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS SQL Server.    
  • Experience analyzing symptoms for accurate isolation of user and network problems
  • Computer/networking systems planning skills.
  • 5+ years experience managing Cisco routers and switches.
  • Ability to install and maintain personal computers, and networks.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments in area of expertise.
