Controller (Education/ Non Profit Industry Experience)

Overview: 


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the non-profit or education sector. This role involves managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This position starts off as 1 day a week remote then is 2 days remote after 90 days.


Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management:
  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor and report on budget performance and variances.
  • Provide financial forecasts and analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Compliance and Audit:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records for audit purposes.
  • Internal Controls:
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets.
  • Review and improve financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to ensure adherence to financial policies.
  • Grant and Fund Management:
  • Manage grant accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Prepare financial reports for funders and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide training and support to staff on financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
