To reinforce its Legal Department, ensure high quality services and address the business needs of the company, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Intellectual Property Counsel specialized in Trademark Law and Brand Protection, eager to join our dynamic Legal team and a diverse and fast-moving high technology-focused environment. 

This role reports into our Head of IP and will focus on all aspects of trademark law and brand protection in the digital space. 


Your Mission:


Brand Protection: Combining processes and expertise to ensure Ledger brand and consumers are protected online from scams, impersonations, counterfeits and other threats or forms of IP infringement


. Identify, investigate, and take any necessary actions against scams, phishing and infringement activities and attempts on social media, websites and marketplaces, with the support of external resources when needed, and in coordination with other departments (including Cybersecurity, Customer Support, Communication)

. Manage vendors to ensure timely and effective responses and actions

. Collaborate with law enforcement authorities and other external stakeholders to address online brand abuse

. Work cross-functionally and facilitate the internal Brand Protection Committee


Trademark Portfolio Management, Enforcement and Strategy: 

. Preparing trademark applications and other prosecution documents for filing; monitoring and maintaining applications through registration worldwide, in coordination with outside counsels

. Setting and implementing processes and best practice to support key projects and assist on the protection and launch of new products and services

. Managing trademark oppositions, cancellations, and litigation around the world

. Resolving trademark disputes using negotiation skills, judgment, creativity, and legal expertise

. Developing and implementing global and regional trademark strategies to enhance Ledger brand value, ensuring alignment to our commercial priorities

. Coordinating and facilitating the internal Trademark Committee


Agreements and negotiation: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating with other members of the Legal Team different contracts across a broad range of areas including marketing, product design & procurement.


IP awareness and business support: Raising IP culture across the business and ensuring compliance with our Trademark Guidelines, including setting new principles as needed. Advising and ensuring that internal stakeholders receive sound, practical, and timely legal advice on IP/trademarks and brand protection related matters. 


Emerging trends and data analysis: Advising on global changes in legislation and identifying opportunities for Ledger in your area of expertise. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practices in the field. Use of technology and data to drive speed, automation and data driven decision making.


Wide IP support: Depending on the Ledger business needs, you will be prepared to jump in and support across a wide range of IP areas (AI, specific Web3 issues…) in an industry that is fast-paced and constantly evolving.


Budget: setting, forecasting, tracking, and controlling Trademark / Brand Protection legal spend.



What we are looking for:

. A proven track record in IP, Trademark and Brand Protection

. An educational background in Law, with an IP specialization would be a plus

. Fluent in English (French would be a plus) with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, allowing you to interact and work on matters with international teams

. A good knowledge of blockchain technology and Web3 or a keen interest in learning about the space

. A proven ability to independently lead and execute challenging engagements with the highest integrity and ethical standards

. A collaborative and team player mindset with an ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

. Able to offer both practical and theoretical advice demonstrating knowledge of the products and services and good business instincts

. Strong entrepreneurship mindset. Creative, flexible, adaptable in the workplace and at ease in a fast pace, very innovative environment. A sense of humour and ability to not take oneself too seriously.
