Human Resources Intern - Summer 2025

Position Description

 

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Intern to join the Legrand Corporate Team in West Hartford, CT.

 

The HR Intern will collaborate with various Corporate HR specialty areas, including HR Operations, HRIS, Benefits, and Compensation. This hybrid position requires three days onsite and two days remote.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Administrative

 

  • Communicate with internal and external customers professionally, confidentially, and diplomatically. Process employee requests and provide relevant information.
  • Perform various administrative functions, including organizing, maintaining records and files (both soft and hard copies), scanning, and generating reports.
  • Conduct file audits to ensure all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
  • Audit employees missing personal email addresses in HR systems. Collaborate with HRIS to manage campaigns in HR systems to gather data.

Compensation

 

  • Utilize the Job Architect system to build position descriptions and conduct job matching.

Benefits

 

  • Update beneficiary information in Empyrean (Benefits System).
  • Process Medical Support Orders by adding dependents to the HR system and handling applicable paperwork.
  • Assist in communicating new benefits system.

Systems

 

  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new systems.

Engagement

 

  • Support projects such as engagement activities and employee communications, partnering with the HR team.

Other

 

  • Participate in special projects, initiatives, or tasks as assigned.
  • Shadow various meetings for new systems, including Oracle HR and Empyrean (Benefits platform).

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (preferably sophomore, junior, or senior).
  • Previous work experience in some capacity preferred.
  • Experience working in an office environment is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems is a plus.
  • Able to work 40 hours/week through summer 2025 (May to August).
  • Continuously exhibit personal integrity and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to follow through and respond to requests accurately, timely, and professionally.
  • Intermediate computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); comfortable with technology.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and eagerness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, coordinate, and manage own work.
