About the Role:

As a Manager on the Cityblock Data & Analytics Engineering team you will be contributing to the development and adoption of our highly robust and complex Data Platform ecosystem. You will join our Data Platform Engineering team which works closely with our product management organization to define and create new data products to be utilized by the enterprise, including analytics, data science, finance, actuary and clinical operations teams. In your role, you will oversee the work of your direct reports to ensure the direction and integrity of the work remains in alignment with our Data Platform goals and objectives. You will help your team solve complex data challenges through both understanding the business context and serving as a technical expert in our development pipelines and chosen technology. We are seeking a candidate with prior healthcare data experience who has an established track record of leading technical teams to deliver business value.

You will:

  • As a hands on leader, manage the day-to-day activities of a team of Data/Analytics Engineers, serving as a technical SME to assist team members with their deliverables, removing roadblocks as they arise
  • Oversee deliverables assigned to your team members, ensuring adherence to product roadmaps, documentation and policies, and established standards
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to ensure alignment between technical delivery and product strategy
  • Ensure we are using industry best practices and approaches within our Analytics Engineering practices, recommending improvements and facilitating adoption where necessary
  • Serve as a Project Technical SME as assigned for large programmatic deliverables, ie: Master Data Management Implementation, Data Quality Engine, Algorithm Productionalization, etc.
  • Contribute to the future strategy and goals of the Data Platform organization, recommending projects and/or approaches that will lead to continuous improvement of our organization and people
  • Maintain career development planning for individuals within your reporting structure
  • Act as a technical mentor and assist with onboarding and upskilling/training for employees within your reporting structure
  • Perform employee reviews/assessments in accordance with our HR procedures

Requirements for the Role:

  • You have at least 7+ years of experience working in data and/or analytics engineering and management (e.g., Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Warehouse/Data Mart development), working specifically in or around the healthcare ecosystem is mandatory
  • You have at least 3+ years of experience leading direct reports, preferably in a technical engineering or development capacity (other leadership experience will also be considered)
  • You have at least 5+ years of SQL development experience, preferably in dbt or another similar tool
  • You understand data modeling techniques and are experienced in conducting reviews of proposed solution delivery patterns
  • You enjoy building relationships and understand complex requirements from multiple stakeholders, translating needs into technical requirements and solutions
  • You are invigorated by data challenges and enjoy contributing to a vision and data roadmap.
  • You have strong analytic, writing, presentation and communication skills so you can explain complex data challenges to numerous non-technical stakeholders.
  • You enjoy working on end-to-end data development pipelines.
  • You have a passion for doing mission-oriented work.
  • You enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise.
  • You are willing to jump in and get "hands on" in order to assist the team in meeting their objectives

We take into account an individual's qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, participation in the company's equity program, paid time off, including vacation and sick leave, and any other tax-reportable benefits. The expected salary range for this position is $166,170 to $196,900.00. The actual offer will be at the company's sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate's qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location.

Medical Clearance (for Member-Facing Roles):

You must complete Cityblock's medical clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to, evidence of immunity to MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and a TB screen, or have an approved medical or religious accommodation that precludes you from being vaccinated against these diseases.
