Manager, Program Mentoring Faculty- School of Education(Full-time)

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $62,500.00 - $96,900.00

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Establishes clear performance expectations for, and with input from, assigned mentors.
  • Manages mentor performance to achieve OTP, retention, and student satisfaction goals.
  • Conducts mentor performance reviews and manages performance improvement plans.
  • Develops and leads team- and program-specific training initiatives.
  • Coaches assigned mentors via call shadowing and other training methods.
  • Catalyst for team morale. Ensures that mentors are connected and engaged with each other.
  • Leads team meetings. Designs and leads, training meetings.
  • Provides direct, comprehensive guidance to assigned students and assigned mentors.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of all student- and employee-related transactions.
  • Manages students’ academic progress according to university policies.
  • Uses the telephone and email extensively throughout the day.
  • Understands WGU degree programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides accurate information and high-quality customer service at all times.
  • Supports university colleagues, as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
  • Ability to lead on-going training for assigned team members.
  • Manages team performance.

  • Leads ongoing team- and program-specific training in a distributed (remote employees) environment.
  • Works at least 40 hours per week with a schedule that includes some evening and weekend work.
  • Strong verbal skills, with ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking style.
  • Remarkable organization talent is a requisite.

  • Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures within job area and may influence others outside of job area to justify and gain cooperation for policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Manages/Supervises a team of professionals. Manages the work of assigned employees and/or supervisors who exercise some latitude and independence in their assignments. Ensures proper training of team members, and participates in hiring, firing, and promotion decisions. Conducts performance reviews and may recommend salary reviews.
  • May complete assignments that are technical in manner in addition to supervising others.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in the following areas, which includes supervisory experience.
  • Managing projects and initiatives in a fast-paced, complex, virtual environment
  • Working with cross-functional teams
  • Guiding individuals and teams to impact organizational outcomes through specific interventions
  • Facilitating team and program-specific training in a professional environment
  • Analyzing data and creating data driven solutions
  • Presenting to diverse audiences
Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current or former teaching license plus 3+ years of k-12 teaching experience
  • Leadership experience managing a small team, or through completion of Emerging Leader (if a WGU employee).
  • Awareness of current initiatives and the ability to drive organizational change as university or college leadership requests with student experience.
  • Proven professionalism that displays effective judgement and professional integrity
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting students in Teachers College Initial Licensure Programs
  • WGU Program Mentor Experience for 2+ years
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
