Market Integration Java Programmer - Remote (Lexington, VA)

AutoGrid is seeking qualified Java developers to support wholesale electricity market API integrations. The processes supported by this role include interfacing AutoGrid cloud software systems with US and overseas energy market systems through APIs using Java and related technologies. These systems read commodity price data and submit market offers, retrieve cleared positions, and process other registration, settlement, and commodity transaction interactions.

Responsibilities:

• Designing, documenting, testing, building, observing, and maintaining Java-based applications that implement API clients to SOAP and RESTful endpoints in both JSON and XML (including WSSE)
• Managing X.509 certificates in Java and on the command line with openssl
• Troubleshooting network, TLS, and application layer issues using Linux-based tools
• Limited SQL database development and maintenance
• Maintaining deployment artifacts to be used in more traditional on-premise Linux-based application hosting environments

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a decentralized environment with limited direct oversight
• Four year degree in computer science or a related field
• Strong proficiency coding in Java and using Maven, Eclipse, git, Spring, and related tools
• Intermediate or better Linux troubleshooting and general skills (can you use tcpdump, make a bash script, use tools like lsof, etc.)
