Marketing Lead (Remote-US)

Pinwheel - Building a fairer financial system by unlocking API access to payroll systems.


More than half of Americans have a poor credit score or no score at all. Since most financial institutions rely on traditional credit scoring to assess risk, that means these people can't access affordable financial products. Instead, they resort to high-interest credit cards, payday loans, and trigger overdraft fees to make ends meet — which ultimately push them into deeper cycles of debt.


Pinwheel provides an API platform that makes it easy to connect payroll accounts like ADP and Gusto to any app. By unlocking the wealth of identity, income and employment data that sits in these systems, alongside direct access to paychecks, we can help innovators build the next generation of financial products that increase access for the underserved while improving the businesses of our partner fintechs, banks, and lenders.


Who are we looking for?


As our Marketing Lead you will be responsible for the success of our marketing function in driving Pinwheel's next stage of growth. This role will report into our CRO, and you will play a key part of the Go to Market team as we enter our next stage of growth. 

You will be working very cross-functionally with sales, partnerships, solutions, account management and product teams to firm up product messaging, customer insights, event plans, and define the strategy for the team. You will also take the lead in growing our marketing function. 


What will you be doing?


  • Lead creation of positioning, messaging, and content for our products.
  • Plan and execute new product launches.
  • Partner closely with sales to develop impactful collateral such as sales assets, white papers, and case studies to explain the value of our products and enable our commercial success.
  • Re-define and execute an events strategy targeting banks specifically.


What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?


  • 7+ years working in B2B marketing roles.
  • Domain experience in fintech and fast growth startup environments.
  • We are looking for someone with depth in product marketing who will additionally be excited about contributing to growth, events, and content marketing initiatives as Pinwheel’s go-to marketing expert. 
  • Deep skills in understanding customer needs and complex technology.
  • Strong storytelling capabilities.
  • Adept at developing and maintaining highly collaborative cross-functional relationships with sales, product, external partners, etc.
  • Advanced quantitative and deductive skills. Ability to distinguish between the signal and the noise and make data-guided actions.

At Pinwheel, total compensation is made up of salary + equity + benefits. We recruit motivated and high performing talent, and work to compensate people in line with the value they can bring to the organization in delivering outsized results. The talent market is competitive, and maintaining our ability to recruit and retain the best team possible is a top priority for Pinwheel. When creating an offer, we consider interview performance, candidate experience, external market competitiveness, and internal equity in thoughtfully assessing compensation. The expected cash salary range for this role is $155,000-170,000.
