Job Description

We are searching for a logical visionary to inspire and create restaurant designs that excel in the customer and employee experiences they offer, achieve the highest levels of efficiency in construction and operation, are respectful of the planet and serve as beacons for the Brand.

The Sr. Director, Global Restaurant Design will lead a team that owns McDonald’s restaurant design strategy and standards (restaurant formats, layout principles, facades, interior décor palettes, family & play solutions, terrace, drive-thru signage etc), is responsible for driving delivery of new design solutions and for facilitating their execution across our markets, globally.

This role will be based in the Speedee Labs facility at our Chicago HQ.

Restaurant Development is a critical priority in our Accelerating the Arches strategy, and this role has responsibility for providing innovative designs and formats that support our acceleration of profitable new restaurant openings, while continuing to reimage our current portfolio to grow sales.

Achieving those aspirations requires the successful candidate to appreciate that success lies at the perfect intersection of Function and Form, needs the harnessing of diversity of thought and realities from across the business and the application of a highly curious nature to inspire the very best solutions for the business.

The expected salary range for this role is $193,610 - $251,690 / per year

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a natural self-starter and creative problem solver who possesses strong strategic and creative expertise working for world class multi-site brands. They will already be leading (or will have led) a significantly sized Design function in a business pursuing aggressive new unit growth and that is renowned for its customer focus.

 More specifically:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or architecture, or equivalent
  • Experience leading in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Proven track record of designing for scaling
  • Excellent oral, written and overall communications skills (including presentation and storytelling skills)
  • Strong work ethic with a passion, energy and enthusiasm for the journey ahead at McDonald’s
  • Global mentality - working within and contributing to a globally understood picture of business priorities and keeping global audiences and impacts for the business and external environment front of mind
  • Ability to Influence, both externally and internally

Additional Information

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. 

Bonus eligible: This position is eligible for a bonus, calculated based on individual and company performance.

Long term Incentive eligible: This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to McDonald’s long-term incentive plan.
