We are seeking a Senior Internal Communications Specialist who is a fast-moving perfectionist that thrives on change and executes with an unrelenting focus on quality. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Functional Communications, you will be responsible for supporting and managing the creation, development, and execution of effective internal and external communication strategies. In this dynamic and varied role, your work will include communications strategy development, organizational change management communications, and employee engagement communications. This role is also responsible for ensuring consistency of on-brand messaging across internal communications channels, as well as enabling a data-driven strategy that drives our approach and enhancements. Your work will focus primarily on supporting one key function but will flex across functions based on business needs.

This role supports US time zones and is intended to be a hybrid position with key stakeholders and partners in Minneapolis, MN.

Travel required for this role is expected to be less than 10 percent with primary travel being to corporate locations for required meetings. 
 
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. 
•    Handles creating and implementing multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy. 
•    Leads strategies, produces content and organizes events to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact. 
•    Generates comprehensive strategic plans that engage employees with the objectives, policies, Mission, and growth strategies of the company. 
•    Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade, educate and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment. 
•    Supports senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees. 
•    As required, may possess strong change management communications capabilities and an understanding of organizational dynamics and social psychology. 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements 
•    Bachelors degree plus 4+ years of relevant communications experience (or 2+ years with an advanced degree)
 
Nice to Have 
•    Bachelor's degree in Communications or Journalism 
•    Prior Medtronic experience 
•    Experience with or working knowledge of programs and applications such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint and various desktop publishing 
•    Experience working in a highly matrixed organization 
•    Excellent verbal, writing, editing and organizational skills 
•    Unwavering attention to detail 
•    Willingness to learn and implement the Medtronic brand voice in communications 
•    Effective collaboration with colleagues, teammates as directed; possess sense of teamwork. Superb people skills. 
•    Comfortable working with colleagues both in person and remotely, across time zones and geographic regions 
•    Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in parallel. 
•    Accuracy, accountability, and strong organizational skills are essential to a successful performance

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,800.00 - $121,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
