The opportunity:
Meeting Tomorrow is an event production and technology company that has been producing events for over 20 years. We have thousands of clients that work with us when they need to have their events go well.
The Controller is responsible for leading the Accounting function at Meeting Tomorrow. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining the overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies for Meeting Tomorrow, LLC and associated business entities. This role serves as the head of the Accounting function and is responsible for creating a department plan and defining and managing work inside the team. This work includes areas such as analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, producing and submitting required filings and reports, and producing and maintaining all supporting financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting and managing and reporting on budget and forecast activities. They will also have a heavy hand in doing the work as well. In addition to internal responsibilities this role is responsible for maintaining relationships with third party vendors such as our accountancy partner, insurance brokers, and financial institutions.
Meeting Tomorrow is a growing company and in addition to the above this role is responsible for contributing to and managing strategic initiatives and identifying and implementing improvements to ensure we are well positioned for the future.
The Team
This role is responsible for managing a team of employees including three Senior Accountants and a Staff Accountant to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner, and that proper accounting practices are in place and being followed. This role reports to the CEO but works closely with a number of stakeholders including our senior leadership team.
The Controller will be responsible for:
• Leading the Accounting operations within the organization. Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
• Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure they receive the support and information they need from the Accounting team.
• Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process. Develops a deep understanding of the business, defines and monitors business performance metrics, and makes recommendations on where we should focus our efforts.
• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
• Ensuring required and appropriate accounting processes and internal control systems are in place. This includes overseeing regulatory reporting, tax planning, and compliance.
