About the role 


The Software Business Analyst team members are an integral part of the MentorMate structure and as such you will be given the unique opportunity to participate in a variety of projects, work on different business domains, collaborate with all departments in the company, influence our clients, and participate in their decision-making process. You'll work together with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, design solutions, and implement new systems. You'll also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and providing strategic insights to drive business growth.

Our Business Analysts are an integral part of our company structure and have the unique opportunity to enter various projects, work in different business domains, collaborate with all departments in the company, influence our clients, and participate in their decision-making process. They work with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, design solutions, and implement new systems while providing strategic insights to drive business growth. 


Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth discussions with clients to deeply understand their business, processes, and services
  • Forge strong stakeholder relationships, guiding them to optimize business value
  • Analyze data and provide insights to support business decisions 
  • Identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions to streamline business processes 
  • Lead business analysis activities during project definition, capturing high-level requirements from key stakeholders
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops to brainstorm, prototype, and refine solutions
  • Drive requirement elicitation meetings, ensuring consensus
  • Working closely with the Design team for the preparation of user research 
  • Partner with solutions architects to analyze and document the business requirements 
  • Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to define business requirements and design technology solutions 
  • Work with the project management team to ensure quality and on-time delivery of projects by monitoring progress and managing risks and issues 
  • Produce and maintain project documentation such as project charters, business requirements, functional specifications, functional requirements, diagrams, etc. 
  • Create well-defined epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria 
  • Support product owners in story scoping and prioritization, aligning development with business goals
  • Validate the requirements with the development team 
  • Lead SCRUM meetings such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, and estimation 
  • Support sprint objectives and prioritize tasks effectively


Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Business Analyst
  • 5+ years of experience in the software engineering field
  • Experienced in the education industry
  • On-site position only (California) 
  • Good knowledge of business analysis best practices and ability to effectively apply them 
  • Ability to analyze complex dispersed information and synthesize it in concise product requirements 
  • Ability to understand and organize complex ideas into application requirements 
  • Familiar with requirement tracking tools (like JIRA, Trello, or similar)
  • Experienced in diagramming tools (Lucidchart, Visio, Miro, etc.) 
  • Experience in preparing user stories, understanding and communicating business processes, and value 
  • Experience in creating valuable articulate requirements and complex process flows 
  • Agile methodology expertise
  • Ability to identify risks in the project and communicate them 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to assert themselves in meetings, both internally and with clients 
  • Ability to deal with rapidly varying tasks as needed 
  • Focus on Design Thinking will be considered an advantage 
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
