We are a team of game designers, artists, educators, developers, product managers, and more building a portfolio of apps, including the popular preschool app World of Peppa Pig. We are seeking a versatile and creative Principal Gameplay Engineer to join our growing team at our studio in Toronto, Canada.What You'll Do• Create engaging and delightful open-ended play experiences for young kids.• Collaborate with internal and external cross-discipline game creators.• Work closely with art and design to prototype, implement and refine gameplay mechanics, systems, and features on mobile devices.• Define and architect flexible gameplay systems in Unity that can be updated in a live service environment without requiring new app releases.• Write efficient, maintainable, scalable and well-documented code in C#.• Help debug gameplay issues, identifying and resolving bugs and performance bottlenecks.• Perform architectural and code reviews.• Mentor, coach, and level-up other gameplay engineers.What You'll Bring• 4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent education / work experience.• 7+ years of commercial game or mobile app development experience, with a strong focus on gameplay programming.• 5+ years of development experience with Unity, with expert-level understanding of the engine.• Strong programming skills with C#, and expert-level knowledge of using Design Patterns.• Good understanding of mobile platforms and hardware.• Experience with profiling and performance optimizations.• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.Nice to Have• Previous experience developing kids' games on mobile.• Participation in Game Jams with shareable examples.Why Join Us?• Be part of a first-party digital gaming studio at Wizards of the Coast, ensuring creativity and fun are at the forefront of safe, child-friendly play experiences.• Work with a team passionate about delivering high-quality, imaginative content that resonates with both kids and parents.• Contribute to products that have a significant impact on kids’ entertainment and digital play.We are an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action EmployerThe above is intended to describe the general content of and the requirements for satisfactory performance in this position.
