Fondé par le professeur Yoshua Bengio de l’Université de Montréal, Mila rassemble des chercheurs spécialisés en intelligence artificielle et plus précisément en apprentissage automatique, apprentissage profond et apprentissage par renforcement. Reconnu mondialement pour ses importantes contributions au domaine de l’apprentissage profond, Mila s’est particulièrement distingué dans la modélisation du langage, la traduction automatique, la reconnaissance d’objets et les modèles génératifs. Depuis 2017, Mila est le fruit d’une collaboration entre l’Université de Montréal et l’Université McGill, en lien étroit avec Polytechnique Montréal et HEC Montréal.

Description du mandat

Relevant de la Gestionnaire, Programmes de recherche, la personne titulaire du poste a comme mandat de coordonner et soutenir le déploiement d’un portefeuille d’activités clés auprès de la communauté de recherche de Mila. Ce poste assure une interface pivot entre les parties prenantes pour assurer le déploiement d'initiatives de soutien à la communauté de recherche. 

Vous serez amené à interagir à l’oral et à l’écrit avec une communauté bilingue (français et anglais) de personnes aux profils variés. 

Principaux défis: 

Coordination d’un portefeuille d’initiatives de soutien à la communauté de recherche

  • Coordonner les activités du programme F2F (Face-to-Face Mila Faculty Collective) : Série Lunch and Learn, Programme de mentorat, Gestion d’événements divers. 
  • Opérationnaliser les programmes de bourses EDI et de bourses dédiées au développement durable en IA.
  • Coordonner les activités du processus de nomination des Comités thématiques. 
  • Soutenir la coordination des étapes opérationnelles du programme des chaires en IA Canada-CIFAR.
  • Participer à l’élaboration et au déploiement de nouvelles initiatives de soutien à la communauté de recherche, incluant le portefeuille des initiatives EDI.
  • Gestion logistique des initiatives. 

Suivi budgétaire 

  • Veiller au suivi budgétaire du portefeuille d’initiatives sous sa responsabilité. 
  • Coordonner les demandes de remboursement des comptes de dépenses. 

Redditions 

  • Participer à la rédaction des documents institutionnels de reddition. 
  • Participer à la collecte de données en fournissant les données brutes reliées aux indicateurs de performance.
  • Contribuer à l’identification des cibles et à la préparation des résultats reliées aux indicateurs de performance. 

Profil recherché 

  • Diplôme universitaire de 1er cycle dans une discipline pertinente.
  • 2 à 3 années d’expérience pertinente en coordination de projet, idéalement dans un milieu universitaire ou de recherche.
  • Connaissance de la culture universitaire et de la recherche, intérêt pour les sciences et le milieu de l’Intelligence Artificielle.
  • Excellentes compétences à la planification et la gestion des priorités.
  • Faciliter d'apprentissage à l’utilisation d’outils informatiques (outil de gestion de projet : par exemple : Asana)
  • Grande habileté à collaborer et à travailler en équipe.
  • Être bilingue, en raison des interactions que vous aurez dans le cadre de votre emploi avec certains de nos partenaires, parties prenantes, ou membres de notre communauté académique anglophones.

Mandate description 

Reporting to the Research Programs Manager, the incumbent is tasked with coordinating and supporting the implementation of a portfolio of key activities for the Mila research community. This role serves as a central interface between stakeholders to ensure the deployment of initiatives supporting the research community.

The position involves oral and written interactions with a bilingual (French and English) community of individuals with diverse profiles.

Key Challenges

Coordination of a Portfolio of Research Community Support Initiatives

  • Coordinate activities for the F2F program (Face-to-Face Mila Faculty Collective): Lunch and Learn series, Mentorship Program, and various event management tasks.
  • Operationalize EDI scholarship programs and scholarships dedicated to sustainable AI development.
  • Coordinate activities related to the nomination process for Thematic Committees.
  • Support the operational steps of the Canada CIFAR AI Chairs program.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of new initiatives supporting the research community, including EDI initiatives.
  • Manage logistics for the initiatives.

Budget Monitoring

  • Ensure budgetary monitoring of the initiatives under their responsibility.
  • Coordinate reimbursement requests for expense accounts.

Reporting

  • Contribute to the drafting of institutional reporting documents.
  • Participate in data collection by providing raw data related to performance indicators.
  • Assist in setting targets and preparing results related to performance indicators.

Desired Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in project coordination, preferably in an academic or research environment.
  • Familiarity with university and research culture, with an interest in science and the field of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Excellent planning and priority management skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use software tools (e.g., project management tools like Asana).
  • Strong ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), as you will interact with anglophone partners, stakeholders, or members of our academic community.
