Votre rôle

Sous la supervision de la responsable des projets autochtones et avec le soutien de la directrice principale, politiques publiques et inclusion, le.a coordonateur.trice de projets autochtones assurera la coordination et une exécution harmonieuses des programmes d'intelligence artificielle, en mettant l'accent sur les initiatives qui impliquent les communautés autochtones. Ce poste requiert de solides compétences en matière d'organisation, de communication et de gestion de projet afin de contribuer à l'élaboration de projets d'intelligence artificielle culturellement pertinents au profit des populations autochtones. Les candidats autochtones sont encouragés à postuler.

Vos principales responsabilités

  • Prendre en charge la participation des membres des communautés autochtones dans les programmes éducatifs de Mila (gérer les inscriptions, les listes d'envois et les communications aux participants) ;
  • Maintenir des relations avec les anciens participants des différents programmes, en particulier ceux provenant des communautés autochtones ;
  • Favoriser l'engagement des communautés envers les programmes de Mila en organisant des activités de réseautage, en célébrant les accomplissements des participants et en offrant un support en continu ;
  • Maintenir à jour la documentation, le matériel et les bases de données des différents programmes ;
  • Maintenir une communication ouverte avec les parties prenantes, particulièrement en ce qui concerne les résultats et les impacts des programmes visant les communautés autochtones ;
  • Collaborer avec les éducateurs pour mettre à jour, créer et organiser du matériel d'apprentissage et des documents culturellement pertinents aux projets autochtones ;
  • Maintenir à jour les bases de données des intervenants, mentors et autres contributeurs tout en veillant à ce que les experts autochtones soient bien représentés ;
  • Analyser des indicateurs de performance concernant les projets autochtones et en communiquer les résultats, le tout en veillant au respect de la vie privé et des sensibilités culturelles ;
  • Soutenir la planification et la logistique d'événements impliquant les communautés autochtones ;
  • Configurer et gérer les outils d'inscription, de recrutement et de diffusion du contenu en collaboration avec les responsables des programmes ;
  • Offrir un support logistique et administratif aux projets d'IA appliqués dirigés par des autochtones dans le studio Mila ;
  • Offrir un support logistique dans la planification des voyages des participants aux projets autochtones (déplacements, hébergement, visites, etc.)
  • Participer à d'autres tâches connexes en lien avec les projets autochtones.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Indigenous Projects Manager and in support of the Senior Director, Public Policy and Inclusion, the Indigenous Projects Coordinator will ensure smooth coordination and execution of AI programs, with a focus on initiatives that engage Indigenous communities. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and project management skills to help build culturally relevant AI projects that benefit Indigenous peoples. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the participation of Indigenous community members in Mila's educational programs (e.g., manage registration forms, mailing lists, participant communications before, during, and after the program).
  • Maintain relationships with program alumni, specifically from Indigenous communities. Foster community engagement by organizing networking activities, celebrating participant achievements, and ensuring continued support.
  • Keep program materials, databases, and internal platforms updated. Ensure clear communication across stakeholders, particularly regarding the outcomes and impact of Indigenous-focused projects.
  • Collaborate with educators to create and update culturally relevant learning materials and documents for Indigenous projects. Organize and ensure proper storage and accessibility of program resources (e.g., contact lists, learning materials, reports).
  • Maintain and update databases of speakers, mentors, and other contributors, ensuring that Indigenous knowledge holders and experts are well-represented.
  • Gather and report on key performance indicators for Indigenous programs. Ensure that data collection methods respect cultural sensitivities and privacy.
  • Support event programming and logistics, particularly for events that involve Indigenous participants or communities (e.g., event setup, working with vendors, managing online and in-person formats).
  • Configure and manage tools for registration, recruitment, and content delivery in collaboration with program coordinators.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for Indigenous-led applied AI projects in the Mila Studio, ensuring smooth coordination of project activities and timelines.
  • Assist with travel arrangements, accommodations, and other logistical needs for Indigenous project participants, including coordinating site visits and collaboration opportunities.
  • Assist with various other tasks as needed to support the success of the Indigenous projects at Mila.

Exigences du poste

  • 1 à 3 ans d'expérience dans un rôle similaire. préférablement en contact avec des communautés autochtones ;
  • Fortes habiletés de rédaction et de communication, expérience en rédaction de documents destinés à des publics autochtones ;
  • Capacité à travailler de manière indépendante et précise ;
  • Solide gestion du temps et capacité à gérer des priorités changeantes dans un environnement dynamique ;
  • Expérience dans la coordination de projets complexes et avec des multiples parties prenantes ;
  • Connaissance des outils de bureautique (Google Workspace, Slack, Asana). La connaissance d'outils tel que Notion ou Miro est un atout ;
  • Expérience en configuration de logiciels et automatisation de processus, un atout ;
  • Connaissance des milieux de la recherche, de l'éducation, de la technologie ou de l'éthique, en particulier en contexte autochtone, un atout ;
  • Être bilingue, en français et en anglais, en raison des interactions que vous aurez dans le cadre de votre emploi avec certains de nos partenaires, parties prenantes, ou membres de notre communauté académique anglophones. La connaissance d'une langue autochtone serait un atout ;
  • Expérience avec les structures de gouvernance autochtones et les stratégies d'engagement communautaire.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably working with Indigenous communities.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with experience drafting materials relevant to Indigenous audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and with precision.
  • Strong time management and the ability to handle shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in complex project coordination, including working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of common office tools (Google Suite, Slack, Asana); familiarity with tools like Notion or Miro is an asset.
  • Experience working with software configuration and process automation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of research, education, technology, or ethics, especially in an Indigenous context, would be beneficial.
  • Bilingualism, in French and English, due to the interactions you will have in the course of your employment with some of our English-speaking partners, stakeholders or members of our academic community. Knowledge of an Indigenous language would be an asset;
  • Experience or familiarity with Indigenous governance structures and community engagement strategies.
