Who You Are / Your Next Challenge
We’re seeking a Market & Liquidity Risk Manager who will play a key role in Moneycorp’s Treasury function, focusing on the development, implementation, and monitoring of market risk models (PfE & VaR) that support liquidity risk assessment, exposure management, and stress testing for complex FX products. This position requires a candidate with strong analytical skills, market risk expertise, and experience in FX and derivatives to support effective risk mitigation and contribute to informed decision-making. The Manager will need to work with Treasury, Credit, and Regulatory Finance colleagues to design and implement these models successfully. They will need excellent communication skills to explain their work to non-specialist stakeholders in the organisation.
What we’re looking for:
Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis
- Design, enhance, and implement stress-test models to assess liquidity risk under various scenarios, simulating potential market shifts, client non-payment scenarios, and fluctuations in bank hedge margin requirements
Liquidity and Exposure Management
- Develop tools to measure liquidity risks associated with margin mismatches between clients and banks, focusing on daily monitoring and alerting for risk exposures that could impact cash flow or capital requirements.
Value-at-Risk (VaR) and PfE Modeling
- Calculate Value-at-Risk (VaR), potential future exposure (PfE), and other risk measures to assess market risk hedging and client positions and potential impacts on liquidity. Ensure alignment with internal risk limits and external regulatory
Portfolio Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Evaluate new trades and product proposals, conducting detailed impact assessments in the context of the existing portfolio and risk appetite framework. Collaborate with the business to optimize trades within risk constraints.
Reporting and Monitoring
- Produce regular risk reports for senior management, detailing exposure metrics, stress test results, and potential liquidity strain indicators. Escalate any breaches of internal risk thresholds and contribute to risk review meetings
Model Validation and Improvement
- Regularly validate and back-test risk models to ensure accuracy and responsiveness to market conditions. Collaborate with other risk and quantitative teams to enhance model robustness and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge and Experience
- 3-10 years of experience in market risk, liquidity risk, or a related role in the financial services sector, with a focus on FX and derivatives. Experience in matched brokerage or a similar environment is a strong plus
- Knowledge of MIFID, Payment Services Regulations including e-money is an advantage.
- Strong grasp of process treasury design, re-engineering and automation.
- Experience of working in a treasury with multiple entities, locations, banks, payment rails and currencies.
Skills:
- Proficient in market risk methodologies including Value-at-Risk (VaR), potential future exposure (PfE), and stress testing.
- Strong understanding of FX options, derivatives, and market dynamics in FX and interest rate environments.
- Familiarity with risk measurement tools and software (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, or proprietary risk systems).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for model development and data analysis is highly desirable.
Education:
- BSc, BA, or higher. Professional qualifications such as CFA or equivalent are advantageous

- Attention to Detail and Accuracy: High level of attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in reporting, model validation, and risk analysis.
- Risk Awareness: In-depth understanding of liquidity and market risks, particularly as they pertain to margin mismatches and FX brokerage.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align risk assessment practices with broader business strategy, contributing to informed decision-making and proactive risk management.
- Adaptability and Innovation: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a proactive approach to enhancing risk models and reporting processes.
