We’re on a mission to provide equitable access to economic opportunity, for everyone.

We close critical skill gaps in the workforce through a new kind of apprenticeship that combines work and learning. Because we believe the world needs a better way to match its potential.

We work with over 1,500 leading companies including the likes of Microsoft, Citi and Just Eat to help solve their business-critical problems, and we’ve trained over 16,000 professional apprentices in the tech and data skills of the future. This is made possible by our global team who are driven to achieve a mission that matters, together.

Join Multiverse and help us set a new course for work.

The Opportunity

Our engineering, data, design and product team at Multiverse is 150 strong. The AI Team is an autonomous organisation that partners closely with our Feature and Foundations teams to deliver impactful experiences across our platform.

We are hiring a bar-setting Principal Product Manager to own initiatives at the nexus of product and AI technology. This is a unique opportunity to be the first product manager on a small, fast-paced, and high ownership engineering team that is responsible for all of Multiverse’s AI strategy and development.

As a Technical Product Manager on Multiverse’s AI Team, your products are backend AI services that will be integrated into the Multiverse platform to benefit our customers and users. You will be responsible for balancing product vision and product needs with AI experimentation. You will also be responsible for identifying new opportunities for features and research, working closing with AI & ML engineers to build and execute project plans.

Your scope will encompass all products and projects within the AI development pipeline. The goal of the AI Team is to focus on creating step-change improvements in the product through high-risk, high-impact AI investments. This requires that we empower other engineering teams to own, launch, and maintain AI-powered features that leverage our backend services. We are looking for an AI Product Manager with high emotional intelligence, positivity, and empathy showcased by a track record of shipping products in a complex stakeholder environment. This role requires technical skills and people skills in equal measure.

No two days at Multiverse are the same, so we are looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is proactive, and can successfully tackle unknown unknowns. Fun fact: every current member of the AI Team has worked at an early-stage startup before. We bring a sense of urgency to everything we do.

You will report directly to the Head of AI and lead product / technical discovery across the portfolio of AI projects. This will include business impact analysis, scoping, day-to-day prioritisation, and stakeholder management. You will work very closely with the rest of the AI Team to ensure the AI roadmap supports the strategic priorities of the business.

Once here, you will:

  • Develop and maintain a prioritised roadmap for AI initiatives, requiring a deep understanding of our business strategy, customer and user needs, and AI technical feasibility

  • Lead discovery, market research, and write specs to identify new opportunities

  • Create prototypes to prove out new feature directions and scope projects

  • Work closely with engineers, data scientists, design, and cross-functional business stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Learning, Delivery) to drive AI projects from inception to launch

  • Define and monitor success metrics for AI services to continuously optimize and scale AI solutions

  • Influence and empower other engineering teams to own, launch, and maintain AI-powered features that leverage our backend services.

  • Mentor and coach team members in great product practice.

About you:

  • You bring substantial experience as a Technical Product Manager, with deep expertise in driving complex technical AI/ML product development.

  • You’ve brought products to market, collected user feedback, defined success metrics, and iteratively improved products.

  • You have a good understanding of AI/ML/data science concepts. While you are not expected to write code on the critical path, you’re able to design zero-to-one prototypes, reason over large amounts of data, and speak the language of the engineers and researchers you work with.

  • You have a passion for AI technology and LLMs, showcased through past projects. You should have hands-on experience using and applying Large Language Models. You should know how to prompt engineer them, how to evaluate them, and understand they are tuned.

  • You have exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience in bringing tech partners and business partners with you to develop class-leading products.

  • You’ve worked at a startup scale-up before and are excited to leverage your experience to accelerate Multiverse’s mission.
