Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.

In this role you will shape the future of America's semiconductor industry by identifying and investing in groundbreaking startups that will define the next generation of semiconductor innovation. 

Every day you will evaluate cutting-edge semiconductor technologies while building relationships with founders, venture capitalists, and industry leaders to catalyze domestic semiconductor innovation through strategic investments. 

To thrive in this role you must combine deep technical understanding of semiconductor technology with sharp business acumen, demonstrating both analytical rigor and relationship-building skills while identifying transformative investment opportunities. 

Natcast, through the CHIPS Venture Fund, represents a historic $500 million commitment to accelerating semiconductor innovation in America. As the operator of the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC), Natcast uniquely combines public funding with private sector expertise to drive the future of semiconductor technology. The CHIPS Venture Fund serves as a catalyst for domestic innovation by providing crucial early-stage capital to semiconductor startups, working alongside traditional venture capital and corporate investors. 

The Investment Partner plays a pivotal role in deploying CHIPS Act funding to accelerate semiconductor innovation through strategic investments in early-stage companies. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of America's semiconductor industry while working with leading venture capitalists and technical experts. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Source and evaluate semiconductor startup investments 

  • Build relationships across the venture capital ecosystem 

  • Conduct technical and market due diligence 

  • Develop comprehensive investment theses 

  • Structure co-investment opportunities with private investors 

  • Monitor and support portfolio companies 

  • Present investment recommendations to leadership 

  • Represent the Fund at industry events 

  • Mentor semiconductor startup founders 

  • Track industry trends and market dynamics 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field 

  • 3+ years semiconductor industry experience 

  • Understanding of chip design and manufacturing 

  • Knowledge of semiconductor market dynamics 

  • Excellence in financial analysis 

  • Strong technical writing abilities 

  • Proven relationship management skills 

  • Experience evaluating technology startups 

  • Understanding of venture capital processes 

  • Demonstrated analytical thinking skills

  • MBA or Master's in STEM field
