Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

ROLE:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for test planning, design, execution, and automation for various GolfNow applications and subsystems. Both front-end client and back-end server testing

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform software quality testing, including black box testing, white box testing, user acceptance testing, and maintenance regression testing
  • Evaluate testing and inspection plans for projects of varying technology, complexity, and size
  • Develop and document test scripts, test cases, defect tracking and reports
  • Ability to work independently and own quality for business initiatives
  • Create and maintain manual and/or automated test maintenance scripts, test data, and other deliverables related to the software quality assurance (SQA) process
  • Review log files and other run-time documentation for defects and issues
  • Under direction of product management, participate in user acceptance testing
  • Perform maintenance regression testing
  • Work closely with development teams to support and implement applications
  • Interest in both front end and API level testing, and interest in understanding the full picture of how each layer – front end, backend, data storage – interacts to make a software product work
  • Ability to perform validations and trouble shooting at a database level, primarily SQL and Mongo
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 2+ years of quality engineering experience
  • Curiosity of how things work and a love for breaking things
  • Team player with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Must have a hunter mindset, wanting to dig for details and be exploratory rather than expecting to be delivered complete requirements
  • Be passionate about technology trends and all things related to testing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Automation testing
  • API testing
  • SQL knowledge
  • BA degree

 Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
