We build, maintain, and support Hawkins, Netflix Design System. We are accelerators and partners, with collaboration and the success of the product teams we serve at the heart of what we do. Our grounding principle is quality at scale, faster over time.About the roleThis internship is an opportunity to learn from and contribute to the product innovation process at the world’s leading streaming entertainment company. You will partner with other designers and engineers in envisioning and implementing solutions for Hawkins that will shape the future of Netflix.You will walk away from this program with: - Hands-on experience in the process of systems design at Netflix - Sharpened design system skills, learning from industry-leading experts - New connections with industry peers and mentors - Active participation in a cross-functional environment that focuses on delivering features globallyAbout youYou have a ‘maker’ mindset and look at the world at large through a systems-thinking lens, approaching challenges from both a technical and creative perspective.You possess solid foundational design skills and are passionate about expanding them. You have a low ego, and you welcome honest, open feedback as easily as you give it.What we’re looking forCurrent student graduating in December 2024 or Spring/Summer 2025 in a graduate or undergraduate course covering Design Systems, Product Design, Human-Centered Design/Interaction, or other related fields.Strong proficiency with Figma and confidence in fully leveraging its features (i.e., components, auto-layout, libraries, etc.)Curiosity about the design system community with a desire to innovate next-generation systems, tooling & workflows.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).The flexibility and open-mindedness needed to thrive in a fast-paced environment.A passion and taste for world-class design and user experiences.Nice to haveA basic understanding of technical constraints and how to design solutions that can be effectively engineered for a specific platform (i.e., TV, web, or mobile)Understanding of existing industry-leading design system best practices.Experience in leveraging and contributing to a design system, even a small one.Awareness about the value of driving accessible solutions at scale and advocating for inclusive experiences across platforms.A love of movies, TV shows, and interactive media.Don’t meet every single requirement? Conditions permitting, our 2024 summer internships will be located in our Los Gatos, CA office, or in our Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine the Intern top of market. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $40/hour - $110/hour.This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy.
