Product Manager, Live Discovery

Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.The RoleIn this role, you will be expected to help build the experience strategy and vision for how members discover and enjoy live-streamed content on Netflix. This includes the development of new and innovative algorithms for our Live content, focused on discovery. You should be comfortable at the hub of a fast-paced environment where you interface daily with cross-functional experts.You will craft and communicate a strategic roadmap and see to its execution leading cross-functional teams of the industry’s best data scientists, machine learning and software engineers. You will also work in close partnership with others in the Live product management team, design, consumer insights and other functions to bring your vision to life. As a high-leverage thought leader, you will have the ability to shape our thinking on how to evolve and differentiate our product offering.This role can be based out of our Los Angeles or Los Gatos offices in a hybrid model. This role can also be remote-based from the West Coast. Travel will be required if remote-based.In This Role You Will• Build a strategic roadmap and take product concepts for live discovery from idea through validation, shipping, measurement and iteration• With work with design and CI to deeply understand member needs and how to develop innovative experiences that drive forward the strategy and meet our business goals.• In partnership with ML practitioners and data scientists, build a strategy for how algos/ML concepts are incorporated into the Live Discovery product experience• Specify product requirements that are relevant for ML and data engineers to consider e.g. freshness of algorithm, precision of recommendation• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists in designing effective AB tests for evaluating algorithm improvements• Collaborate effectively with other Live PMs to ensure a cohesive experience.• Are comfortable working on products with complex tradeoffs.• Deeply understand and socialize our evolving needs to our customers, with your consumer insight and design partners• Very high attention to detail, with an ability to connect the smallest experience elements to the big picture goals at the company and team level.You Have The Following Experience And Skills• Have 5+ years of experience managing consumer products leveraging machine learning (e.g. recommendation systems) with a proven record of prioritizing and successfully launching impactful products or platforms.• Experience working on live streaming products at scale, and a good understanding of the live production cycle• Demonstrated leadership experience working effectively with data scientists, machine learning engineers, product design teams and consumer insights• Proven ability to map algorithmic solutions to product problems with demonstrated impact on business metrics through AB testing.• Excellent written communication skills and ability to present technical content to non-technical audiences.• Ability to partner with different functions to ensure that your solutions drive real business impact. Strategic thinking and ability to incorporate larger business context into algorithm and product development.Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $240,000-$750,000.Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
