Position Summary

The Risk Analyst will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and managing risks within NOLA Public Schools to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and assets. This position will support the Executive Director of Risk Management in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, safety programs, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to risk management, and the ability to collaborate with various departments across the district.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Director of Risk Management in identifying and preparing for hazards related to the organization’s finances, operations and objectives;
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards affecting students, staff, facilities, and operations;
  • Analyze data and trends related to accidents, incidents, and claims to identify emerging risks and vulnerabilities;
  • Work with department heads, in addition to school leaders within the Independent Local Education Agencies (LEAs), and staff to assess specific risks within their areas;
  • Assist the Executive Director of Risk Management and Operations team in the development and management of safety protocols for emergencies, facility issues, and other risk-related events;
  • Support the Executive Director in establishing risk management policies and procedures;
  • Ensure that district policies and practices comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and best practices related to safety and risk management;
  • Track and document incidents and claims and prepare reports on incident trends, claims status, and loss data for executive leadership and relevant stakeholders;
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs for district staff on risk management topics, including safety procedures, reporting protocols, and compliance and; 
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, safety, insurance, or a related field, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.
  • Experience with risk assessment tools, claims management, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.


Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess risks using data and trends;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and present findings to senior management;
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to risk management and safety in educational environments;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and risk management software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.


$50,400 - $78,735 a year

Salaries are determined by educational background and/or relevant years of experience.


Work Environment

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday; 

- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely; 

- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely; 

- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely; 

- Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting.     


Performance Evaluation

The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
