Job Description:
HOURS - M-F 8:30-5:00pm CST

The Patient Access Rep is responsible for determining patient financial clearance decisions for complex and specialized cases, referrals, and service lines. This team is dedicated to completing patient access workflows to improve financial outcomes, decrease denials, and maximize reimbursement across the organization. Duties include obtaining, reviewing, and evaluating prospective patient's insurance coverage details provided by insurance providers to facilitate a decision regarding patient's eligibility to be treated at the hospital. The Rep utilizes defined policies and procedures to determine when escalations are required and documents patient benefit details into database repositories, which directly impacts patient eligibility communication, accurate and complete billing, correct reimbursement rates, pre-certification requirements, and maximized collections. This role collaborates with external payers and referring physician representatives, as well as internal departments including OIS/GSC, Site Pre-Certification, administration, financial counselors, registration, billers, and Patient Account Specialists.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
Associates Degree preferred.
2-3 years' experience in insurance verification, insurance benefits, registration, billing and/or collections in a healthcare/physician office setting or professional environment is a MUST
Experience and strong working knowledge of computer applications and operating systems including Microsoft Office Suite.
Prefer experience and knowledge of insurance terminology (IE: Coordination of Benefits, Letter of Credible, and Medical Review), have a general understanding of cancer diagnoses, contract terms, reimbursement methods, and payer structures.
Strong analytical skills.
Outstanding customer service skills and professional etiquette.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and telephone skills.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations.
Must be efficient, reliable, flexible, goal oriented and adaptable to change, while maintaining high productivity levels.
Ability to solve problems independently or as part of a team

Pay Range
$16.70 - $25.78

Placement within the identified pay range is based on individual and market factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, credentials (including licenses and certifications), geographic location, market competition, skill set (including market availability of required skills), assigned/anticipated job tasks, and level of responsibility.
