Job Description

The purpose of this job is to assist in developing and executing public relations and external communications to raise awareness and affinity about the company and brand.

  1. Assist in developing public relations and external communications strategies and plans to support the company’s goals and objectives
  2. Aid in drafting and publishing external communications materials including press releases, blogs, talking points and media statements
  3. Draft media responses for approval and respond to media requests
  4. Support in the planning and execution of public relations events and initiatives
  5. Collaborate with agency partners, stakeholders and team members
  6. Maintain a calendar of external communications activities and partner with marketing and project management teams to track deliverables
  7. Support B2B and sales communications requests and draft materials including customer emails and newsletters
  8. Serve as a resource for select business areas and assist with public relations efforts to support major initiatives
  9. Assist in preparing company spokespeople
  10. Occasionally attend and serve as company representative at industry and media events
  11. Track, monitor and report on company media results and utilize the organization’s media monitoring system
  12. Research and identify new public relations ideas, tactics and media opportunities
  13. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
  14. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1 – 2 years' experience with media, public relations and/or external communications
  • Experience working within a large, matrixed organization preferred

Specialized Knowledge

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and Adobe skills
  • Proficient in AP style

Competencies

  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information ethically and responsibly
