Global Workflow Architect

As a Global Workflow Supervisor, you hold the responsibility for driving productivity and enhancing the quality of VFX workflows and processes at our company.

In close collaboration with all stakeholders, including Heads of Studio, VFX Supervisors, Heads of Production, Department Heads, and key artists, you will thoroughly assess and refine existing workflows, while also devising innovative solutions to streamline processes and boost efficiency. A key part of your role involves unifying workflows across the VFX departments. Additionally, you will liaise with production teams to maintain an overview of upcoming projects, ensuring the workflows are adequately prepared for each show, as well as in support of the long-term strategic planning for Pipeline Development. 

This position also entails working directly with the Pipeline team to help shape their roadmap for creating the necessary tools on show deadlines, while collaborating with the Innovation division to identify suitable, cutting-edge technologies, and determine the best timing for their integration.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the studio Department Heads, assess, document, and refine workflows to create global parity, and improve productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the VFX production process. 
  • Advise and support the vision, goals, and timeline for show production workflows, working closely with the Departments Heads. 
  • Collaborate with the Innovation division to identify and assess new tools and determine the optimal timing for integrating them into production workflows. 
  • Work with the Pipeline team to help shape the roadmap for developing tools tailored to evolving workflow needs. 
  • Coordinate with production teams to maintain an overview of upcoming projects, ensuring the workflows are prepared for future demands and challenges and delivered back to production in time for key show milestones. 
  • Support the strategic and long-term development of the pipeline, ensuring alignment with PXO’s broader goals and the future VFX production landscape. 
  • Drive workflow unification across departments, fostering consistency and efficiency in processes. 
  • Identify emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, and assess their potential for integration into the production workflows. 
  • Help create new and disruptive workflows that drive competitive advantage by creating internal efficiencies and offering unique services for clients. 
  • Work closely with the technology and research teams to investigate emerging technologies outside of PXO and assess their feasibility for integration into production workflows. 
  • Oversee the implementation of innovative technical solutions, ensuring seamless integration into the production pipeline and continuous optimization of workflows. 
  • Evaluate risks associated with new tools, workflows, or changes, ensuring a smooth adoption process and mitigating potential disruptions. 
  • Monitor progress continuously by keeping in close contact with Heads of Production, Show Producers, and Show Supervisors, and assess the effectiveness of implemented changes to ensure they achieve the desired outcomes. 
  • Apply change management communication practices to ensure smooth transitions and sustainable improvements for the entire company. 
  • Collaborate closely with Heads of CG, Heads of 2D, VFX Supervisors, Heads of Production, and Global Head of Pipeline, and report regularly to the Heads of Studios, and the CTO to align on company goals and ensure successful progress across all teams.

  • 10+ years of experience within the VFX, animation or video-game industry. 
  • Experience with machine learning & AI & real time 
  • Innovative thinking and leverage cutting-edge technology to challenge the status quo and foster creative, out-of-the-box solutions. 
  • Proactive and self-sufficient professional with a strong ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and deliver results independently. 
  • Deep understanding of both the technical and creative aspects of VFX production and best-practices.  
  • In-depth knowledge of industry technology and standards like USD, ACES, Solaris, Unreal, etc. 
  • Experience in analyzing, refining, and implementing VFX workflows, including unifying across multiple sites. 
  • Proficiency in documenting workflows. 
  • Excellent collaborator and negotiator. 
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills. 
  • Able to convert concepts and workflows into process diagrams. 
  • Dependable under pressure with attention to detail.
