Registered Nurse-Northern New Jersey

Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, Inc. (PPNCSNJ) provides comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, abortion services, education and information to women, men and teens at 17 health centers throughout 18 counties in New Jersey.


Pay: $44.62 per hour

Hours: 35 hr work week, Non-Exempt

Schedule: Full Time, 5-day work week

Schedule Requirement: Must be able to work on Saturdays**

Position: Registered Nurse- Northern Float-Floating between Elizabeth, Morristown, & Hackensack

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum Education/Licensure/Certification:

1. Work Experience: 2 years of RN experience in an ambulatory health center. Experience in reproductive healthcare preferred. Customer service experience required.

2. Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing. Current State of New Jersey Registered Nurse License.

3. BLS and CPR certification required. ACLS certification, desirable.

4. Other Requirements:  Ability to read, write and speak in English, Bilingual in Spanish desirable.  Valid NJ State driver’s license.  Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.   



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Registered Nurse performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:

 

1.     Provides general health supervision, health maintenance, education, and counseling to patients.

2.     Reviews patient medical history, identifies/documents medical concerns, and obtains consents as appropriate.

3.     Performs vital signs and routine lab testing, i.e., hemoglobin, HIV, pregnancy, urine dip sticks, as necessary.

4.  Educates patients about contraceptive methods, safe sex practices, risk reduction, pregnancy options counseling, other information as appropriate, and documents accordingly.

5. Assists the clinician, interprets medical recommendations, and reinforces clinician instructions with patient.

6.    Works with Center Manager and other staff to facilitate efficient clinic flow and client triage, and excellent customer service.

7.    Participates in follow-up of abnormal laboratory results, i.e., Pap Smears, Sexually Transmitted Infections, biopsies.

8.  Follow-up of client referrals to other medical providers.

9.  Ensures proper documentation of all patient interaction including clinic visits, telephone contacts, and all follow-up activities.

10. Provides injections and immunizations as needed. Administer medications and therapies.

11. Skilled in venipuncture and IV administration of medications.  

12.  Able to indicate an emergency protocol and assists in emergency situations as needed.

13.  As appropriate, able to assess and monitor patients post anesthesia and manage a post procedure recovery room.

14.  Processes payment and maintains accurate financial records/receipts.

15.  Ensures adequate inventory, emergency supplies, and equipment are available and operational.

16.  Assists in Quality and Risk Management activities.

17.  Participate in monthly staff and other meetings as scheduled.

18.  Participates in the Affiliate’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: Coding properly; achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.

20.  Participates in all training and education requirements to stay current in:  daily tasks, license requirements, technology trainings (ex:  NextGen, SecuReach, etc.) updates in MSGs, required trainings (ex:  CAL, policy reviews, etc.), and others as appropriate.

21.  Performs other duties as assigned in support of mission and as required to ensure delivery of consistent high quality services.
