The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.
HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Scope of the Position
The HR Manager role will provide the HR business partnership to the Kennebunk facility to ensure the plant has the right number and type of talent required to execute site and division strategy and achieve desired business results. This role will ensure client group establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as‚ One Corning‚ in support of Corning Values.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and prioritizes current and future talent requirements of the plant which could affect achievement of operational objectives
- Implements a compelling employee value proposition that enables them to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
- Take actions required to address talent gaps, ensuring the facility has the right people in the right place at the right time
- Partners with plant staff to identify and implement targeted individual development plans that address plant talent gaps in a timely manner
- Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within client group to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
- Holds managers and leaders accountable for establishing and maintaining positive work environment
- In partnership with Division HR Manager/Director, identifies the human capital priorities over the next one to two years and the type and level of support required from HR to effectively address these priorities
- Effectively deploys HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals
- Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements or funding considerations.
- Leads talent pipeline strategy, including annual talent reviews, for client group in support of the short-term and long-term goals; supports the deployment of talent programs including intern/co-op programs, 2Up talent program and other focused talent programs working with the Strategic Talent Program Manager
- Provides input to division HR staff and plant staff to build VOC and planning into talent programs
- Manages intern/co-op experience including recruiting, onboarding, performance assessment, and talent placement.
- Collaborates closely with HR leadership team to understand talent pipeline requirements.
- Maintains active partnership with community and identified schools to maintain a calendar of events and ensures staffing for each event
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, focus on Human Resources Management or Industrial/Labor relations preferred. Master’s degree and HR certification, a plus.
- 3-5 years of HR expertise experience (generalist or specialist) or equivalent
- Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve client group ability to achieve desired results

- Agility to adapt to a fast-paced work environment (taking initiative, working independently & handling multiple priorities)
- Ability to support a manufacturing/production workforce and build a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of labor law and regulatory requirements
Desired Skills
- Master’s degree or MBA
- Greenbelt certification a plus
