PMC: Senior Accountant, Real Estate - job 2 of 2

This role can be based in NYC or Los Angeles and will report to the Corporate Controller. The Real Estate Senior Accountant will support the Accounting team for maintaining the books and records of the real estate business unit. The ideal candidate must possess a goal-oriented approach and a dynamic personality as this position interacts with business teams across the organization. You will assist with financial reporting, technical accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, variance reporting, and other ad hoc requests as provided by management.

Typical tasks may include (but are not limited to):

• Prepare or review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations across different real estate related financial statement areas
• Analyze monthly P&L variances and provide meaningful reporting to management on an ongoing basis
• Prepare audit documentation and key footnote disclosures as requested
• Assist with technical accounting research, business combinations, and other key transactions
• Prepare accounting memos or equivalent documentation for internal review and discussion with external auditors
• Contribute to various ad hoc projects, with a focus on close optimization, systems, and processes
• Proactively identify and implement process improvements
• Establish and document policies, procedures and best practices across the department.
• Perform special projects and any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4-6 years relevant accounting and audit experience in real estate business including construction and leasing
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA and/or Public Accounting experience is a plus
• Fundamental knowledge of US GAAP particularly real estate construction, sale of land or property and leasing
• Previous experience with ERP systems (NetSuite) is a plus
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to adhere and meet internal and external deadlines

Typical wage range: $80k - $90k + annual discretionary bonus
Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
