About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.

Your Role

As CTO at Polygon Labs, you will be at the helm of our engineering organization, driving a culture of speed, execution, and excellence. You’ll empower our teams to operate autonomously, instilling a mindset focused on winning and fast decision-making, without hesitation or fear. Your mission is to accelerate our speed-to-market and ensure that we consistently deliver pioneering products, positioning Polygon Labs as a leader in the rapidly evolving Web3 infra space. With a hands-on understanding and mastery of Web3 tech, you'll unify Engineering and Product functions, providing both strategic direction and technical guidance to build an organization that prioritizes innovation and impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Organizational Leadership & Culture Building: Champion a culture of hunger, speed, and high standards across the engineering organization. Lead by example, promoting a "get sh*t done" attitude and encouraging ownership, calculated risk-taking, and quick decision-making.

  • People Development & Talent: Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent. Foster an output-driven culture, coaching and developing team members to perform ambitiously and consistently raise the bar.

  • Strategy & Vision: Define and execute a bold, forward-thinking technology strategy that aligns with Polygon's mission and keeps us at the forefront of Web3 infrastructure innovation.

  • Engineering Excellence: Guide technical teams through architecture discussions, leveraging your knowledge of Rust, Solidity, and blockchain infrastructure to ensure efficient and scalable solutions.

  • Product Collaboration & Delivery: Drive close collaboration between Engineering and Product teams, establishing a shared product vision and delivering high-impact products that meet our competitive market needs.

  • Web3 Innovation: Stay at the cutting edge of Web3 advancements, using your deep understanding of the blockchain ecosystem to identify and capitalize on emerging trends and opportunities.

What You'll Need

  • Web3 Nativity: At least 1+ years in Web3, ideally in blockchain infrastructure or L1/L2 space, with a strong grasp of industry trends and Polygon’s positioning.

  • Engineering Background: A solid foundation in Computer Science, with familiarity in Rust, Solidity, and other key technologies. You may not code daily, but you can engage in technical discussions and provide clear architectural guidance.

  • Proven Product Delivery: Demonstrated experience in shipping innovative products, with a strong vision for how Engineering and Product teams work together effectively.

  • Leadership Competencies: A proven track record of building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of excellence, with skills in coaching and developing talent at all levels.

  • Decisiveness & Drive: An absolute hunger to win, with the decisiveness to make fast, impactful decisions and the confidence to take risks. You bring an entrepreneurial spirit, living by “ask for forgiveness, not permission,” and are relentless in pursuit of results.
