Post Doctoral Researcher

This position will primarily engage in secondary analysis of existing data sources and manuscript preparation with interdisciplinary teams. Fellows will develop a research portfolio and engage in various grant writing and research training opportunities. Fellows will be expected to work on numerous data sources to produce scientific peer-reviewed manuscripts on a variety of topics. Publication goals will be established collaboratively with fellows to allow for prioritization within specific areas of interest. Fellows will be provided with external professional development opportunities, as well as internal training opportunities in data analysis techniques, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. Fellows will also have “hands on” opportunities to build translational skills in community outreach and dissemination, with a focus on rural collaborations. Fellows may also have the opportunity to present at regional or national scientific meetings. Additionally, Fellows may be asked to assist RDAR Leadership with data management tasks, statistical/methodological needs, grant proposal preparation, or annual progress reports.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a social science or health equity field prior to the start date of the position. Applicable fields include, but are not limited to, public health, psychology, sociology, and anthropology.
  • Prior research experience and demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Evidence of strong analytical skills in quantitative areas (e.g., longitudinal data analysis, structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, social network analysis, or related approaches).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous record of peer reviewed publications in substance use and/or health equity topics.
  • Experience in project management, community-engaged research, or conducting primary data collection.
  • A demonstrated interest in health disparities and/or rural health research.
