Position Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accounting Manager who thrives on taking initiative and solving problems with minimal guidance. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of jumping in to get things done, while also mentoring and managing a team. If you’re someone who sees inefficiencies and takes ownership to implement solutions, we want to hear from you.

This role is perfect for someone passionate about their professional development and ready to enhance processes, support system improvements including AP automation software implementation and manage day-to-day operational accounting for multiple entities. You will directly supervise and mentor a small, high-performing team while enhancing processes for areas such as Accounts Payable and Payroll. Reporting to our Director of Accounting, a leader with a passion for technology and development. This is a hybrid role based in downtown Phoenix, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll, and Travel & Expense (T&E) processes in collaboration with HR and Operations.
  • Supervise general ledger activities for inventory, payroll, leases, and other transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Manage travel and expense processes, including policy development and payment oversight, while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor cash balances and develop payables forecasts; manage and approve payments and transfers.
  • Implement and maintain cost and inventory accounting controls, partnering with Operations to manage inventory movement and resolve discrepancies.
  • Research and ensure compliance with regulations related to sales & use tax, property tax, payroll tax, and business licensing.
  • Manage audits, including 401(k) and insurance audits, and support financial statement reviews.
  • Track and report KPIs, leveraging technology to improve processes and ensure timely, accurate data.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate accounting operations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and accounting software (SAP is a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., formulas, VBA, macros) are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Passion for leading, mentoring, and developing a team.

Preferred

  • CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with technology or SaaS industry accounting.
