Construction Project Manager - Waterway Structures & Tidal Basin

Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in construction management (CM), project controls, construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, is seeking a Construction Project Manager for a long term opportunity in the Washington D.C area on a design and construction Tidal Basin seawall rehabilitation project. 


This role requires 10+ years of experience in construction management on heavy civil and water way projects with the ability to lead a high-profile intense +$100m design-build project in DC.


Position Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Removal of existing stone seawalls and construct new elevated walls along the historical alignments.
  • Use of steel pipe piles for the foundation and a number of pre-cast concrete sections for a number of the wall components.
  • Installation of steel sheet pile on the landside to provide separation and excavation retention during construction.
  • Working from barges on the water and from the landside of the wall.
  • Stone from the historical walls will be salvaged and reused in construction of the new walls. Existing sidewalk on top of the seawall along the Tidal Basin will be replaced.
  • Repair surrounding infrastructure landscape including grading, stormwater control, pedestrian/multi-use paths, curbing, and replacement of any site features (e.g., landscape, trees, benches, etc.) damaged or disturbed during construction.


Required Qualification & Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in the role as a lead construction project manager in concrete, dredging, waterway construction projects, and/ or seawall reconstruction required.
  • Experience with QA/QC plans and procedures tailored to marine projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Experience with coordinating with project stakeholders, contractors, architects and engineers during all construction project phases. Experience with reviewing design document submittals, reviewing cost and schedule estimates, collecting, preparing, and reporting programmatic information.
  • Experience with estimating and cost verification reviews.
  • Fluent in project management principles and how to implement project management principles.
  • Ability to analyze all relevant project-related information and communicate project status and issues effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, interpret contract terms and conditions, working knowledge of CPM scheduling, communication skills, intermediate computer skills and leadership skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or BA degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering or related field
  • PE, CCM, or PMP certification 
  • Experience in the role of owner's representative on capital construction projects
  • Experience in the use of industry project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Revit, Prolog, Kahua, etc. 


$120,000 - $150,000 a year
Salary commensurate with experience.
Relocation assistance may be provided if the candidate is not local to the DC Metro area.
